As most of you may already know, the novel coronavirus causes a diease called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). So, here is some reliable and helpful information.
For a brief introduction, please read our article on What is Coronavirus
Symptoms of the novel Corona virus
The family of coronaviruses causes a variety of illnesses ranging from the common cold to more sever respiratory conditions. A subsequent outcome is an overlap of symptoms linked with other issues like asthma or allergies. And this is what is causing much confusion and panic.
To clear the confusion about this royal family (named Corona due to its crown like appearance), we have consolidated the symptoms caused by similar conditions to COVID-19. The table below shows us the most common overlapping symptoms to watch out for:
“What if I get the virus?”
As per the latest information, we know that the symptoms can begin upto 14 days post exposure to the virus. If you experience the symptoms as listed in the table, please do not panic. The first thing you need to do is to stop all physical contact with others. Then, just call your nearest medical facility. You will be guided further about the precautions and treatment available for you.
First, you will go through the test for COVID-19. If found positive, you will be asked to quarantine yourself possibly at the comfort of your home. If you find yourself in this situation, remember to stay calm. The body takes time to heal itself and needs the energy to do so. So keep yourself healthy with a lifestyle and the food that will help build your immunity.
If you find yourself unwell but not positive for coronavirus, you too need to watch out. Chances are, you have the cold or flu which also means your immunity needs a boost.
Stay healthy, stay safe!
Although there is much we are learning about COVID-19, there is still much we do not know yet. So we should continue to follow the guidelines laid out by regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of AYUSH. Know more about the guidelines here.
Remember to make an extra effort to be cautious, kind and responsible. We’ll get through this together!
