Hyperacidity is a widespread health problem these days – thanks to unnatural lifestyle! It happens when the acid in the stomach increases to unhealthy levels. When you have too much of this acid, it can wreck havoc in your system. Hyperacidity is quite a painful thing to go through. Moreover, constipation, vomiting, heartburn and restlessness are common hyperacidity symptoms that make life hard! So it’s wise to seek out Ayurvedic remedies before it gets worse. We’ll tell you about some things you can do…

    Hyperacidity and the Pitta Dosha

Pitta is one of the 3 doshas (or constitutions) recognised by Ayurveda, apart from Vata and Kapha. Pitta is all about fire and water, and it governs transformative processes in the body. Digestion and the digestive fire or ‘agni’ are closely linked to Pitta.

‘Amla pitta’ or hyperacidity takes place when Pitta aggravates, resulting in malfunctioning of the digestive fire and excess acidity. How does this Pitta increase? There are various factors, some of which include: eating too much spicy and sour food, excess anger and stress, sleeping late frequently, smoking and alcohol, and even hot weather.

So to treat hyperacidity, Ayurveda pacifies Pitta and it consequently heals the digestive system.

How to Treat Hyperacidity with Ayurvedic Remedies

    1. Diet Suggestions

As soon as you spot hyperacidity symptoms, you should start fixing your diet. Diet form a crucial factor when you are suffering from this condition. Ayurveda suggests things you must strictly avoid.

    What to avoid:

    • Alcohol
    • Caffienated and carbonated drinks
    • Processed food
    • Excessively sugary food
    • Red meat
    • Vinegar
    • Garlic
    • Tomatoes
    • Onions
    • Curd at night
    • Excessively salty food
    • Spicy and pungent food, especially curry
    • Fermented products

    What can you eat?

    • Drink lots of milk since it soothes this condition.
    • Warm water is also an excellent remedy for hyperacidity – so keep sipping on glasses of warm water throughout the day.
    • Coconut water is quite helpful.
    • Include fresh, organic and unprocessed fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Eat at regular intervals, and don’t over-eat. In particular, your dinner should be very light.

    1. Pacifying Your Pitta

Since hyperacidity is a Pitta produced condition, the Ayurvedic approach to treating it largely revolves around treating Pitta aggravation. In this way, it will not only eliminate hyperacidity symptoms – but it will remove all the other effects of Pitta aggravation in your system.

You must have heard of Panchakarma, which involves using an array of methods to purify the system of Dosha aggravation. In Panchakarma, Virechana is the suitable hyperacidity treatment. It uses laxatives to eliminate all of the excess Pitta accumulated in your body. The hyperacidity will automatically start to disappear as a result of this treatment.

An Ayurvedic expert can also prescribe herbal medicines to help your body flush out toxins and restore the balance of acidity in your stomach.

    1. Follow the Right Lifestyle

Ayurveda makes sure that lifestyle is also taken into consideration so that you are able to remain healthy after healing. If you a prone to Pitta aggravation, you would be advised to practice certain yoga and pranayama like Bhujangasana and Sheetali Pranayama. To prevent anger and agitation, you need to improve your routine in a way that you can get enoug sleep and time for calming your senses. This will keep away many Pitta related conditions other than hyperacidity.

    In Conclusion…

Here, we have shared the various things you can do to treat hyperacidity. However, these are suggestions and not prescriptions. So before combining tips from this article and others, you must consult your doctor for approval. Then, you can use these suggestions and heal smoothly!
