Agoraphobia can interrupt one’s daily life to a great extent if left untreated. Individuals suffering from agoraphobia, a kind of panic disorder, may not be able to work in new spaces. Anxiety can lead to a panic attack which can, therefore, be highly dangerous for health. So, it’s important to understand what is agoraphobia, it’s symptoms and the agoraphobia treatment required.

What Is Agoraphobia?

Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder that incites extreme fear in the person. An individual with agoraphobia symptoms will be scared of leaving their home. Such people are scared of being in public places or crowded areas. In fact, thinking about such situations can also cause a panic attack or lead to restlessness. Agoraphobia symptoms are related to panic disorder – but they are two different states.

What Are The Agoraphobia Causes?

  • Panic attacks or panic disorder
  • Trauma
  • Mental disorders

What Are The Agoraphobia Symptoms?

  • Fear of being alone and losing control
  • Feelings of helplessness as well as restlessness
  • Anxiety, dizziness and an upset stomach
  • Rapid heart rate, palpitations as well as high blood pressure
  • Chest pain and shakiness

Agoraphobia Treatment

1. Chamomile Tea Has Wonderful Effects On Panic Attacks.

What is agoraphobia? It’s a condition leading to a fear of crowds. Therefore, a tea prepared using chamomile herb can relieve the related stress and panic. It’s a natural nervine as well as a sedative. For the tea, boil one cup of water and add a teaspoon of chamomile herb powder. Steep the tea for about 5 minutes and drink twice every day.

2. Try Valerian Root For Suppressing Agoraphobia Symptoms.

Valerian root has been used for centuries as a sleeping medicine. Since it has a calming effect on the brain, it helps induce better sleep. So, take a teaspoon of dried valerian root powder and add it to one cup  of water. Boil the mixture for 5 minutes. Strain and drink twice daily. It’s an effective agoraphobia treatment for panic attacks.

3. Lavender Essential Oil Can Be Used For Therapy.

The herb is famous for its therapeutic aroma as well as anti-inflammatory properties. It decreases the cortisol levels in the body, thus controlling anxiety symptoms. Therefore, take a teaspoon of lavender essential oil and add it to a carrier oil like coconut oil. Massage the head of the patient gently for about 15 minutes and you’ll observe the symptoms subsiding.

4. Use Skullcap For Anxiety Relief.

Skullcap root strengthens your nervous system and aids in calming the mind as well as body. Since it contains anti-inflammatory as well as antispasmodic properties, the herb is beneficial for panic attacks. Therefore, take 1-2 g of dried skullcap powder thrice daily to reduce the agoraphobia symptoms.

5. Take Lemon Balm As A Natural Sedative.

Lemon balm has the properties of a sedative. It relieves the patient from anxiousness and helps in relaxation of the nerves, thus, reducing high heart rate, palpitations as well as blood pressure. Therefore, take 300mg of lemon balm extract for 15 days and observe the change. It’s an essential agoraphobia treatment.
