  • 6 Ayurvedic Tips For Glowing Skin

Clear and glowing is not just beautiful to look at – it also reflects a healthy body and mind. But things like lack of leisure, low quality food, and pollution make it quite hard to achieve or maintain. The good news is that you can always turn to mother nature for a health and beauty boost! Try these Ayurvedic tips for glowing skin.

6 Ayurvedic Tips For Glowing Skin

  1. Understand Your Type.

Ayurveda recognises that every single person has a unique mind-body constitution made up of the five elements – earth, fire, water, air, and space. Based on these elements are the 3 doshas of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Understanding your type gives you insights into why your skin looks, feels, and reacts differently to external stimuli from other people. You will then find that your skin is a result of your overall lifestyle. And by living in alignment with your dosha and balancing your elements, you can ensure that have healthy glowing skin.

  1. Practice Abhyanga.

Most Ayurvedic doctors count this as one of the ultimate healthy tips for skin. It’s immensely beneficial it is for the mind, skin, and overall health. Abhyanga involves massaging the body with oils like sesame, coconut, and sunflower – again, depending on one’s dosha. It relaxes the mind, promotes better sleep, improves blood circulation, and removes impurities from the skin…leaving it looking glowing and gorgeous.

  1. Get Your Beauty Sleep.

Sleep is an excellent medicine for glowing skin. There is plenty of research out there that links sleep with better health and skin. With good quality sleep, you’re less likely to have dullness and skin problems like acne, premature signs of ageing, and suffer from damage. That’s because good sleep ensures that your immune system functions well, and that your repairs its cells at a better rate. Check out these tips for better sleep.

  1. Eat Right.

Next on our list of Ayurvedic tips for glowing skin is diet. It might sound cliché but it’s oh-so-true – you are what you eat. Invest some time in fixing your diet and you will be delighted with the results. And it’s really not that hard.

Here are some of the best foods for your skin:

  • Fruits and veggies rich in vitamin C like kiwis and oranges
  • Foods rich in antioxidants like berries and green tea
  • Foods high in fibre for better digestion like oats and okra
  • Leafy greens like kale and spinach
  • Healthy spices like ginger and turmeric
  • Seasonal fruits and vegetables
  • Protein rich foods like tofu and lentils
  • Foods with healthy fats like olives and almonds
  • Hydrating fruits like cucumber and watermelon
  • Loads and loads of water!

On the other hand, avoid foods that are:

  • Processed
  • Overly spicy and salted
  • Artificially flavoured
  • Stale
  • Alcoholic
  • Tamasic
  1. Move!

Ask any skin expert about tips for healthy and glowing skin and they’ll tell you to get enough of exercise. There are several benefits of being active for your skin. They flush toxins out, boost blood circulation, improve digestion, enhance immunity, help you sleep better, and combat stress too. Yoga is our favourite since it takes a holistic approach to mental and physical health – both of which are crucial for truly healthy skin. You can read more about it here.

  1. Go Natural.

More and more people today are realising the sheer dangers of using synthetic products on your skin. They put you at risk of severe skin irritation, allergies, premature ageing, acne, dullness, and some pretty serious damage including cancer. Believe us, you’re much better off without them. These days, it’s super easy to whip up your own soaps, lotions, face packs, and even lip balms with natural ingredients that nourish your skin and give it a healthy glow. Or you could simply look for natural alternatives at the store. Just make sure you read the labels properly!
