Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental disorder caused by a drastic event. PTSD causes a person to retreat to solitude and experience the same stressful event repeatedly. It induces anxiety, irritability, depression, anger, self-doubt as well as confinement. These are the prime PTSD symptoms. An individual who observes these signs of PTSD for more than a month should consult a psychologist or  psychiatrist.

What Are The PTSD Causes?

Post-traumatic stress disorder is an aftermath of living through a dangerous or extremely stressful event. An incident or an accident that causes trauma, shock or stress may lead to PTSD. The death of a loved one, a major accident, and sudden drastic changes in life can be some PTSD causes. However, every person who has been through such an event does not develop PTSD.

What Are The PTSD Symptoms?

  • Reliving the stressful event over and over
  • Avoiding social contact and feelings
  • Nightmares
  • Extremely tensed
  • Shock
  • Nausea
  • Outbursts of anger
  • Sleeplessness
  • Increased heartbeats
  • Negative self-image
  • Guilt or self-blame
  • Loss of interest
  • Depression
  • Irritability

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Treatment

1. Skullcap Provides Relief From Anxiety.

People use skullcap root to treat PTSD symptoms like anxiety, sleeplessness as well as depression. It is analgesic, sedative, and rich in antioxidants. Boil a teaspoon of skullcap root in a cup of water. Let it steep for 10 minutes. Drink before sleeping.

2. Brahmi Maintains Brain Function.

Ayurveda prescribes brahmi for improving the brain and cognitive functioning. Stress and anxiety are PTSD causes and symptoms. Brahmi lowers the stress hormone called cortisol. Therefore, take a teaspoon of brahmi with a glass of warm milk once daily.

3. Ashwagandha Aids Better Cognitive Activity.

Use ashwagandha to treat the PTSD symptoms. It has memory-enhancing as well as antidepressant capabilities. So, consume 500 mg of ashwagandha powder with a tablespoon of clarified butter or ghee. Do not consume in excess as it can have side effects as well.

4. Get Abhyanga With Bhringraj Herbal Oil.

Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic massage therapy using herbal oils with medicinal qualities. Bhringraj has antioxidant and antidepressant properties. Warm 5 tablespoons of bhringraj oil and massage the head gently. Repeat it twice daily for relaxing.

5. Lavender Essential Oil Is Therapeutic.

Lavender essential oil is aromatic as well as anti-inflammatory. It soothes the mind and relaxes the body. Therefore, prepare a tub of lukewarm water and add 12 drops of lavender and rose essential oil. It helps in calming the senses.
