Burning foot syndrome is a condition marked by mild to moderate pain and sensitivity in feet. Although the feet aren’t wounded, the nerves in the area send signals to the brain that can result in pain and burning. This results from nerve damage. There are many causes of burning feet like diabetes, athlete’s foot, kidney disease, and alcohol abuse. Luckily, there are home remedies you can use when you feel your feet burning.

Home Remedies For Feet Burning

1. Vitamin B3

Niacin or Vitamin B3 can be a great remedy for burning feet. Lack of it has been linked to this syndrome. B3 helps nerves recover from damage. This vitamin can also protect your nerves from the damage that could arise from stress on your feet – like when you have to walk for long periods of time. You can either ask your doctor for B3 supplements, or meet your daily requirements from foods like yoghurt, milk, peanuts, beans, and mushrooms.

2. Turmeric Water

Turmeric is a herb that’s often used in burning feet treatment. It contains compounds with powerful pain relieving as well as anti-inflammatory properties. And it can boost blood circulation in the affected area. If you experience a lot of itching, chances are that turmeric can help soothe the symptom well. Moreover, this herb is great if you also need an aid to sleep better, since it has a relaxing effect on the nerves. You can drink warm turmeric water and apply a thick mix of turmeric with water to your feet. But be sure to consult your doctor since it could have side effects and worsen your condition.

3. Ginger Tea

Ginger can treat that burning sensation in your foot by providing your body with warmth and increasing the flow of blood. Just like turmeric, ginger too can play an important role in relieving pain and soothing the symptoms. Over the years, it has been used as a folk remedy for this. Simply add chopped ginger to your food. Or, sip on refreshing ginger tea up to 3 times a day. Add half a ginger to a cup of water, bring it to a boil and then simmer for a few minutes. Drink fresh. Again, discuss possible side effects with your doctor.

4. Neem Flower Tea

Neem is a powerful Ayurvedic herb that can has cooling, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties that can provide a whole lot of relief from the burning in your foot. It’s also used for conditions like athlete’s foot and toenail fungus. You can use the flowers for burning of feet. Here’s how: Add a handful of the flowers to 1 cup of water. Let it stay overnight. The next morning, strain the water into a cup and drink it through the day.

5. Cold Water Dip

One of the easiest, quickest, and cheapest things to do when you feel your feet burning is to dip them in a bucket of cold water. This can provide almost instant relief as it numbs the pain. You could also wet a cloth in cold water and gently run it on your skin. But there are some things to keep in mind. Never use ice or chilled water. Only soak your feet for up to 3 minutes and then give them a break. Discuss the method with your doctor to avoid worsening your condition since it could backfire.
