Cataract is a state where the lens of your eye starts to cloud and it eventually leads to unclear vision. But what causes cataracts? And is there a cataract treatment in Ayurveda to obtain a cure without a surgery?

What Causes Cataracts?

Cataract is a common eye disease amongst people of old age. A cataract occurs when the proteins create clumps to block clear images in the eyes. Other reasons for cataract are:

  • Smoking
  • U.V Rays
  • Steroids and drugs
  • Diabetes
  • Hypoparathyroidism
  • Glaucoma
  • Heredity

Symptoms

Following are some of the symptoms of a cataract:

  • Unclear vision
  • Difficulty in night vision
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Color blindness
  • Frequent change in the number of your glasses

Cataract can be treated and prevented with regular checkups and the right treatment. When cataract begins to interfere with a person’s daily life then they have to go through surgery.

Is There A Cataract Treatment Without Surgery?

There are cataract treatments without surgery in Ayurveda. But, for people who are unsure, here are all the solutions. These are extremely helpful and you must start with these right from when you notice the symptoms.

Cataract treatment in Ayurveda

1. Exercise

Cataract can be prevented and cured with the help of exercises. Yoga is the most beneficial form of exercising that not only cures your body but also your mind.

2. Well Balanced Diet

Another cataract treatment in Ayurveda is the maintenance of a healthy diet. Cataract occurs when there is a deficiency of vitamin A. So, include carrots, tomatoes, and papaya in your everyday meal as this will help you clear the symptoms of cataract.

3. Buttermilk

Buttermilk can help enhance your night vision. Drink one glass of buttermilk every day and see the difference! This is an effective cataract treatment in Ayurveda.

4. Cream

The cream prepared from cow’s milk should be applied over the eyelids every night before sleeping.

5. Onion Juice

Onion juice taken with honey can be seen as one of the best natural remedies for cataract. Put two drops of the mixture in your eyes and it’ll provide a sure shot relief.

6. Triphala

Triphala should be taken with milk every day to cure cataract. Drink it twice in a day for much better results.

7. Sunglasses

Protect your eyes from direct sunlight. Wear goggles instead of going out bare eyes.

8. Betel Nuts

If a person has swelling in their eyes then it is recommended to apply a paste made from betel nuts.

9. Seeds

Fennel and coriander seeds are also an excellent Ayurvedic treatment for cataract. So, consume 10 mg of both on a daily basis.

10. Hold Water In Your Mouth

One promising exercise that has been followed by people since ages is filling the mouth with water till the cheeks start to feel the pressure. Sprinkle water on your eyes and rinse the mouth later. It cleanses your eyes and also increases the blood circulation around the area.
