We know why you love your microwave oven. In today’s fast paced world, it’s a blessing for how easy it makes cooking and re-heating. But we urge you to chuck it of your kitchen. Because Ayurvedic wisdom teaches us that the manner in which we prepare our food is as important as the food itself – healthy cooking makes a big difference. Here are the dangers of microwave ovens for you and your family.

    The Dangers of Microwave Ovens

    You Consume Toxins from Plastic.

This is one of the well-known harmful effects of microwaves among health experts. When plastic is involved, the process of microwaving food becomes even more harmful. These days, many of us wrap and store our lunch in plastic – plastic papers, tiffin boxes, plates and bowls. In offices, we re-heat the lunch in a microwave oven. This results in toxins from the plastic leaking into the food, including extremely unhealthy carcinogens. Researchers are now finding toxins like benzene in widely microwaved foods, such as pizzas.

    Your Food’s Structure Changes.

There are acute dangers of microwave ovens for your food. Most of us here adore the microwave oven because of how quickly it can heat up our food. But did you know that this very speed is actually quite bad for the food? Heating food in microwaves has side effects. During the super-fast heating process, the water molecules in the food get converted into steam. As a result, the structure of the molecules in your food gets heavily distorted. In other words, the composition of your food changes. This means that your food begin to lose its vitamins, proteins, minerals, and beneficial qualities. So you could buy top quality organic ingredients, but after placing it in a microwave oven, you won’t even end up get all the necessary nutrition – but will end up with degraded food.

    Your Food Loses Life.

To receive life energy is the prime reason for consuming food. This life energy contributes to our ultimate health – physical, mental, emotional as well as spiritual. That’s why Ayurveda encourages us to eat things that are richer in life energy, like unprocessed ingredients, fruits, and vegetables. But we must also cook these foods in a way that preserves the life energy and allows us to obtain it. Unfortunately, microwave ovens do just the opposite – every time you microwave your food, it loses its life energy. This means you consume dead food even if it’s a fresh vegetable you cook in the microwave oven.

    You Get Exposed to Radiation.

According to various researches, microwave radiation’s dangers are not a myth. The reason why you cannot use your microwave oven with the door open is that while cooking your food, it emits radiation – which is dangerous for your body. Now, if this is harmful for your body, would you want it to be anywhere near the food which enters your body?

    The Closing Note

So, our main message to you today is, “cook healthy, live healthy.”

Yes, making the switch from the microwave oven will be a little inconvenient at first. But when faced between the choice of health and convenience, the first option is certainly the better one. Now that you know dangers of microwave ovens, you can shift to a wholesome way of cooking. And in just a matter of time, you can start to reap the benefits of food that is more rich, nourishing and full of life.
