7 Essentials of Ayurveda Living

    Ayurveda aims at eliminating the root cause of a disease and seeks to restore harmony by treating the person as a whole, and not just the symptoms. It has emerged as a science, which takes a holistic approach toward general well-being and survival of an individual. Today, Ayurveda therapies and practices have been integrated into wellness applications and in medical use.

    Ayurveda states that our body is constituted of three bio-elements or doshas called the Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha. A disease occurs because of dosha imbalance, that usually is a result of unhealthy diet and poor lifestyle habits.

    Therefore, below we mention 7 essentials necessary for an Ayurvedic lifestyle:

    Diet

    The diet of an individual plays an important role in Ayurveda. As the old adage goes– “we are what we eat”. Diet should be as per our unique constitution/ prakriti to prevent the imbalances.

    Herbs

    Ayurveda lays great emphasis on natural herbs and uses them in everything from food and medicine to therapies. The therapeutic medicines derived from herbs, have little or absolutely no side effect on the patient.

    Exercise

    Regular exercising is vital for our overall health and well-being. No solutions work if we do not even move an inch and expect miracles to happen. In Ayurveda, the type, intensity, and amount of physical activity required are all determined on the basis of the unique constitution of an individual.

    Yoga and Meditation

    Practicing yoga and meditation helps in calming the mind and balancing all the doshas. This also trains us to listen to our body requirements and is an essential technique for getting in tune with nature.

    Cleansing

    External cleansing is done on a daily basis by water, soap and using oils. While the internal cleansing or detoxification is mostly done through fasting and following specific diets, which prove very effective in maintaining good health.

    Massage

    Massage in Ayurveda is not just an essential part of daily life, but it is also considered luxurious in Ayurveda! A soothing touch physically enables healthy circulation and releases toxins and also nourishes the emotions and the soul.

    Finding Balance in Everyday Life

    Holistic health is vital and widely available to everyone, all we need is to reclaim that health. Integrating Ayurveda into our everyday regime can result in happiness, peace, balance, and well-being of our body, mind, and soul.

    Not only does Ayurveda cure the disease, it also rejuvenates the body of an individual and increases the immunity against that disease. It helps the individual to move toward a balanced lifestyle, enhances the focus of the mind and helps to live in a perfect harmony with nature.
