You could have the best job in the world – but there are times when life at the workplace is nothing but dull and tiring. And sometimes, our physical mental, and emotional health take a backseat. Are you going through a similar phase? If yes, this is a great time to take things in your own hands and make some changes. With Ayurveda for office-goers, you can take simple steps to bring wellness, relaxation and vitality in your day-to-day work life.

Ayurveda for Office-goers: Transform Your Work Life

    1. Begin on a Positive Note

When you wake up, don’t rush to check your emails and text messages. This kick-starts your stress cycle. Instead, set some time aside for yourself.

Catch some revitalising Sunshine, practise yoga and meditate. 20 minutes of this is enough to tune your mind and body to a positive vibration. During this time, you can also recite (or listen to) positive affirmations. These affirmations can be about specific goals and projects, or simply about how the new day is going to bring fulfillment and success. To get started, check out these 10 Tips On How To Think Positively.

At your workdesk every morning, remind yourself of the day’s goals and affirm to yourself that you will achieve them. Now, you’re ready to begin!

    1. Pick the Right Foods

When the first meal of your day is healthy, it’s easier to make healthy choices for the remaining part too. So, eat a scumptious breakfast. By that, we mean replace processed foods with fresh, whole and organic ones.

To stay productive post lunch, eat it between 12 noon to 2 pm. During these hours, your digestion fire is at its best. Vegetarian “thaalis” make for the perfect Indian lunch since they offer a balance of nutrition. At lunch time, forget about all your work and pay full attention to savouring the food. This ensures better absorption of nutrients.

Coffee is strongly associated with life at the office. However, Ayurvedic as well as general health experts would agree that it does more harm than good. For a real “kick”, switch to fresh juices made of energy-boosting fruits like bananas, oranges, papayas, and peaches.

    1. De-stress the Ayurvedic Way

While you cannot avoid all stress-causing factors at work, you can certainly control how they affect you.

Ambience matters! Re-arrange your workdesk to minimise stress. When it is free from clutter, you can focus much better. You can also place Ayurvedic herbs like rosemary, which release aromas that soothe the brain and bring clarity of mind. Further, you can place calming, energising and inspiring pictures as well as quotes – they can give you a much-needed boost.

Meditation is one of Ayurveda’s incredibly powerful techniques of stress management and now, science also verfies its profound effects on the brain. Whenever you feel tense, close your eyes and practise any kind of meditation you prefer – mindfulness, transcendental, mantra meditation, pranayama, and so on. You can do this at your workdesk or at a special spot in the campus.

Break the monotony of sitting in front of the computer by going out for some fresh air. If there’s a garden on site, take a walk on the grass. Make sure to breathe deeply, in rhythm.

    Final Thoughts

Ayurveda for office-goers is simple, and at the same time, exceptionally effective. We encourage you to try this out for a minimum of 2 weeks – you are sure to feel the difference!
