Ayurveda is a blessing for each one of us to maintain a balanced and healthy life. It naturally cures diseases and helps achieve stability in the mind and body. Haritaki in Ayurveda (also called harad) is one such medicine that’s essentially a king and has been used since ancient times. It’s the destroyer of illness and supports healing in every channel of the body. It also is believed to improve our brainpower, and increase stamina. Haritaki or harad benefits digestion as well. Primarily, it is known for medicinal properties along with being able to purify your blood and increase the metabolism.

Haritaki in Ayurveda is regarded as the universal solution for overcoming all difficulties in the human body. Harad keeps the ability to flush out the bodily toxins and significantly cure a variety of conditions. It has purgative, laxative, astringent and restorative properties.

What Are The Harad Benefits?

1. Haritaki Benefits Your Skin.

In the case of an allergic reaction, wash the affected area with Haritaki for immediate relief. You can also prepare and drink a hot decoction of harad fruit with water to eradicate all types of fungal infections. Even a turmeric and Haritaki paste will leave a soothing effect on your skin. Not only will it treat severe allergies but also heal scars, rashes, and acne.

2. It Cures Swollen Gums.

Using the extracts of this herb as a mouthwash helps prevent cavities. Mix harad powder in buttermilk to gargle or use it in place of your regular toothpaste. This will soothe your gums and also relieve swelling.

3. Weight Loss And Detox Are Two Major Harad Benefits.

Keep in mind that it’s no magic bullet. Nothing can work on its own. And this is the reason you’ll have to combine Haritaki with a sensible diet and exercise plan. Improved digestion and a better nutritional intake will leave a positive impact which in turn helps lowers unhealthy cravings. All in all, the nutrient absorption capacity increases and the oxic burden on your liver gets refreshed. Result? You drop excess fat!

4. Harad Aids Digestion.

Haritaki speeds up your metabolism and cleanses the digestive system. All kinds of stomach related disorders can be cured with this single herb. It forms a protective barrier in your stomach which effectively prevents acidity, constipation and ulcers. Harad is an Ayurvedic medicine. Combine it with a fibre rich diet, and you will have better bowel movements too.

5. Harad Benefits Your Hair.

It’s a herb beneficial for maintaining and sustaining your hair health. So, use harad to have your hair’s lustre, shine and volume back. Boil haritaki fruit in coconut oil until it completely dissolves. Apply 3-5 grams of this oil every other day, and see the magic happen! This will fight hair fall, improve overall hair texture and get rid of dandruff.

6. It’s The Controller Of Diabetes.

Harad also brings your blood sugar levels under control. Due to a poor diet, you face a reduction in insulin sensitivity which gradually makes you a patient of type 2 diabetes. However, haritaki in Ayurveda contains such compounds that have shown a significant effect on lowering those levels. So, consume a tablespoon of harad powder mixed with honey in the morning every day and observe an improvement in your condition.

What Are The Haritaki Uses?

What kind of a result will be achieved depends upon the way haritaki is used. The harad Ayurvedic powder is strongly laxative. When consumed with other edibles, it acts as a memory enhancer. If taken with salt, harad benefits aggravated Kapha Dosha. When consumed with clarified butter (ghee), haritaki benefits aggravated Vata and mixed with sugar, it pacifies Pitta. Harad or Haritaki can also be taken with honey, jaggery, consumed as a simple decoction in water or be used as an antiseptic wash.

Concluding Words…

Ink nut/ Harad/ Haritkari is a fantastic detoxifier in Ayurveda and is a rich source of antioxidants. But do keep in mind that harad is an Ayurvedic herb and not an ultimate tonic. It cannot be taken regularly for an extended time period.  So, consume the herb considering a specific detox diet. Also note, never forget to consult your doctor in case of an emergency.
