If you find yourself craving sweets frequently in the day, you have a sweet tooth.  The sweetness of sugar activates the production of endorphins that are responsible for lightening up your mood. Sugar cravings are, therefore, a sign that you are either addicted to sugar or possibly depressed. Quitting sugar or at least bringing the levels down must be a priority. But, how to stop eating sugar? Are there any helpful home remedies? Yes.

What Happens When You Have A Sweet Tooth?

Consumption of sugar not only increases your body fat but also leads to diabetes, dental problems, and adrenal insufficiencies. Studies have demonstrated that white sugar increases the risk of infections. So, how to stop eating sugar if you have an addiction? How to quit sugar if you are too stressed?

Giving up sugar isn’t easy and the withdrawal symptoms can be bad. But, you’ll have to control your urge and in fact, cut out the consumption of processed foods from your diet. Replace processed sweets with natural sugar and eat fresh fruits. Along with giving up sugar, use these home remedies to stop sugar cravings.

How To Stop Eating Sugar?

1. Craving Sweets? Try Ashwagandha Instead.

Since ashwagandha is beneficial for mental wellness, roast ashwagandha powder in ghee and mix a few dates in it. Store the mixture prepared in a glass jar and refrigerate. Take a tablespoon of ashwagandha with a cup of warm milk 20 minutes before your first meal daily.

2. Giving Up Sugar Is Easy With Tulsi Tea.

The reason behind excessive sugar cravings is usually stress as well as anxiety. So, calm your thoughts with tulsi tea. Add 2-3 tulsi leaves in one cup of boiling water. Steep the tea for about 5 minutes and drink twice or thrice a day. This will help in quitting sugar completely and also tackle the withdrawal symptoms.

3. Overcome A Sweet Tooth With Chewing Gum.

Craving sweets too much? Try chewing gum. Nutritionists suggest that chewing gum can curb the cravings to a great extent. So, the next time you want to break your oath of quitting sugar, get some gum.

4. Stop Sugar Cravings With Gurmar (Gymnema Sylvestre).

The name gurmar means the destroyer of sweet. Also known as Shardunika, the plant helps neutralize the sweetness on the tongue and balance insulin secretion. Therefore, take a teaspoon of gurmar after each meal to control your sweet tooth.

5. Bacopa Tea Helps In Quitting Sugar.

Bacopa Monnieri or Brahmi is an Ayurvedic remedy that helps release stress. So, prepare a tea by boiling one teaspoon of Brahmi powder in a cup of water. Steep the tea for about 3-5 minutes and then drink it warm thrice daily, or when you are craving sweets.
