It is since the historic times that sugar has been obtained directly from the sugarcane juice and used in its raw and unrefined form. But today, much of the commercially available sugar is made by chemical processing and refining raw sugar. It lacks the needed nutrition and provides you only with empty calories which are full of hazardous chemicals. This makes white sugar a white poison.

Refined white sugar is a prominent cause of deteriorating human health. Do you know, 1 teaspoon of white sugar is capable of reducing your immunity by over fifty percent for the next five hours? Excess sugar intake gives rise to acidity, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases. It can also cause brain attacks and paralysis in extreme cases.

    How Does White Sugar Affect?

Fructose present in sugar is the prime reason for all the negative effects & emotions. It fools our brain into thinking that we aren’t full. This leads to overeating. And excess fructose cannot be easily converted into energy. Gradually, this starts outpouring the insulin resistance which in turn leads to chronic metabolic diseases.

During the refining process, high quantities of sulfur are used to decolorize and attain whiteness. The resultant sugar contains sulfur dioxide which is linked to several health hazards. Read here to learn more – http://ehealth.eletsonline.com/2014/01/health-hazards-of-sulphur-in-sugar/

    The Ayurveda View

In Ayurveda, the world’s ancient and eternal healthcare system, the sweet taste is one among the six essential tastes in our diet. Ayurveda says that sweet taste is responsible for nourishing and invigorating the mind, relieving hunger and thirst, increasing tissues and improving the immune system. More importantly, it makes us happy, content, calm, cheerful, and satisfied when consumed in the right amounts.

By sweet, Ayurveda doesn’t refer to processed sugars rather sugars that are found naturally in sweet foods including ghee, milk, wheat, rice, and other grains and legumes, as well as sweet fruits, dates, honey and jaggery.

In order to go off these addictive refined sugary substances, you simply need to detox yourself from this drug like food and replace white sugar with natural sugars and get that sweet taste in your balanced diet by consuming fruits which are rich in natural sugars. (Read here about how to wash off those unhealthy toxins from your fruits).
