Feeling low on energy lately? Don’t worry, Ayurvedic experts reckon that eating certain foods (in addition to resting well) can boost your energy levels back up before you know it. Include these 7 foods in your diet to increase stamina.

Include These 7 Foods In Your Diet To Increase Stamina

1. Beetroot

First up is this yummy red vegetable. Beetroots contain a lot of nitrates that strengthen immunity and improve the use of oxygen in your body. They also provide you with vitamins A and C, folate, and potassium that help beat exhaustion and boost stamina. Drink a glass of beetroot juice everyday. Being warming, it’s great for the winter season or those with high Vata dosha. It increases Kapha and Pitta.

2. Spinach

Popeye loved spinach, and so should you. This vegetable has incredibly high amounts of iron – an extremely important mineral for your body to produce energy. Eating spinach goes a long way in improving blood circulation to ensure that your cells get the fuel they need. Other dark leafy greens high in iron are kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, and turnip.

3. Almonds

Nuts classify as ‘Sattvic food’ in Ayurveda. Almonds are some of the healthiest snacks. They are packed with fibre, calories, vitamin B12, vitamin E, magnesium, copper, and phosphorous. And they’ve got plenty of healthy fats too. If you feel a drop in stamina during the day, just snack on half a cup of almonds. Or add them to your breakfast cereal. You’re sure to feel the difference.

4. Kiwis

Kiwis are some of the richest sources of vitamin C. Even more than oranges! Your body needs enough of Vitamin C to fight off infection, recover from it, as well as for having enough energy levels. Unfortunately, your body cannot store vitamin C since it’s water soluble. So you need to replenish its levels on a regular basis. Kiwis, lemons, oranges, and amla (Indian gooseberry) can keep your vitamin C levels high. Here’s more about Kiwis.

5. Dates

Add dates to your diet to increase stamina. These delicious dried fruits provide you with healthy and simple sugars that your body can easily use to produce more energy. So, the stamina boost you get from eating dates and other dried fruits is rather fast. Dates have a whole lot of other nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc.

6. Bananas

Bananas are among the most popular pre-workout snacks. They’re also good to eat before doing yoga. That’s because they’re loaded with potassium, fibre, and complex carbs. All three of these are necessary to make you feel mentally active and physically energetic. In fact, bananas even increase the amounts of dopamine in your body – a hormone that helps you feel happy.

7. Peanut Butter

Last on our list is our all time favourite – the ever-so-yummy peanut butter! Peanuts have plenty of Omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and calories. Moreover, they take time to digest which keeps you feeling full and satisfied for longer. Eat peanut butter with complex carbs like brown rice. You can add peanut butter to curries and sauces to mix with rice.
