The human body carries millions of organisms. Some of them keep us healthy while others are harmful parasites. Intestinal worms are parasites that enter the gastrointestinal tract through sources like dirty water, undercooked meat, mosquitoes, or simply the air. People in tropical and sub-tropical regions tend to get them more often. These worms can be pretty awful as they cause intense stomach ache, constipation or diarrhoea, fatigue, anal itching, and even ulcers. If you’re looking for natural solutions, you could give Ayurvedic medicine for stomach worms a try.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Stomach Worms

1. Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)

It’s easy to figure out from its name that this herb is quite an effective eliminator of intestinal worms. It has been used for thousands of years to cure the problem. Doctors may prescribe it in the form of the powder or oil. It is particularly used to get rid of roundworms and pinworms. When combined with black walnut and clove, it forms a powerful anti-parasite remedy. Apart from cleansing the stomach from the invaders, wormwood also improves overall digestive health.

2. Neem

Neem also goes by the name of Indian lilac. It is among the most potent and extensively used Ayurvedic herbs. Neem has anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-parasitic properties. And it can get rid of a wide range of organisms. This herb kills worms as well as prevents their reproduction within the body. You can take it in the form of a tea with fresh Neem leaves, as well as in capsule form. But it’s not safe for everybody, especially pregnant and nursing mothers, children, and those with liver problems. So please consult your doctor before taking it.

3. Carrots

A remedy that’s perhaps already in your kitchen, carrots have beta-carotene, vitamin C, as well as zinc – all of which help get rid of those pesky little worms in your body. They’re especially great for thread worms. Moreover, this veggie strengthens the immune system too. So if your child has ended up with belly worms, include carrots in his or her diet. They’re most effective when had first thing in the morning.

4. Papaya

Another orange and yummy Ayurvedic medicine for stomach worms. The juice of raw papayas contains a substance called papain, which destroys parasites that have entered the body. The seeds have anthelmintic and antiamoebic properties, immensely helpful in ridding you from your invaders. One of the simplest ways is to mix a tablespoon of papaya seeds with honey and chew it first thing in the morning for about a week. But do consult your doctor before doing so, especially if you are pregnant.

5. Coconut

Next up is coconut, a valued Ayurvedic health food. Coconut can be an excellent Ayurvedic medicine for stomach worms of most kinds. For many years, it has been used as a home remedy for this. Its meat has loads of a special kind of fibre that helps eliminate parasites quickly. Virgin coconut oil is quite effective too, especially in preventing another invasion. A common way of using it is to crush coconut meat and eat a spoon in the morning. And then, drink a cup of warm milk with mixed with a spoon of castor oil three hours later.

6. Garlic

Garlic is a precious medicinal herb that has been used as a folk remedy is Asia as well as some Europe regions for thousands of years. It has strong anti-parasitic properties that target a range of worms and other harmful microbes. It’s quite easy to use too. Generally, Ayurvedic doctors advise eating 2-3 garlic cloves first thing in the morning. Yes, it tastes rather strong! But it works.

Important: Though natural, these remedies can have serious side effects if they don’t suit your body. So we insist that you consult your doctor before using any of them. Identifying the cause of your health condition is particularly important and this is best done by a qualified professional.
