What are morel mushrooms? Where to find morel mushrooms? And what about their benefits? Morels are elusive fungi that aren’t easy to find and one has to go looking where it’s fruiting. Hunting for morel mushrooms is one of the best parts of the entire experience. The trouble is more than worth it – their meaty, nutty and flavourful taste is to die for. Not just that, morels are amongst the most nutritious fungi that are also medicinal.

What Are Morels?

Morels are a hand-sized mushroom that resembles the shape of your brain or like that of a honeycomb. Morels are an extremely valuable type of mushrooms which are also pretty expensive. They are a wild fungus, distinctive, edible, and a gourmet king.

Where To Find Morel Mushrooms?

Morels are found all over Northern and Central America along with Europe and Asia. They grow around dead apple, elm or ash trees and also under the wood scraps. You can of course, get them at premium grocery stores that supply exotic foods.

Morel Mushroom Season

Late winter and early spring are the seasons to find morels. Not having many leaves makes them easier to be found under the hidden pits.

Morel Mushrooms Benefits

1. Morels Help Cover Up Iron Deficiency

For the production of red blood cells and to effectively carry oxygen and supply it to all parts of the body, iron is an essential mineral. And, morels supply 100% of the daily iron requirement for men and 44% for women!

4. Morels Are Rich Source Of Antioxidants

So, it’s like getting two diverse and significant properties at the price of one.
