It is a mixture of Deodar, Gooseberry, Myrobalan, Belerica, Senna, Horse gram, Mustard as well as Phyllanthus herbs. As opposed to the traditional massages, Udvantanam is done in an upward direction i.e. opposite to your hair growth. The therapist rubs the powder all over the body and allows the paste to penetrate into the skin. It’s an hour-long procedure and usually takes about a week.
