Chickweed, also known as Stellaria Media, is a weed-like plant that’s native to Europe. In Ayurveda, it is a medicinal weed that helps pacify the imbalanced doshas. Being loaded with vitamins A, B complex, and C along with ascorbic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, silicon, flavonoids, zinc, and coumarin, chickweed benefits are immense. It works like a natural sedative, blood purifier as well as a diuretic. All in all, chickweed benefits the heart, kidneys, skin, muscles, and your bones.

Chickweed Benefits (Stellaria Media)

1. It Cures Cold & Cough.

Both cough, as well as a sore throat, are curable with chickweed. Since Stellaria media acts as an expectorant, it even helps heal asthma and general cold symptoms.

2. It Prevents Kidney Diseases.

Chickweed is a natural diuretic. It helps eliminate harmful toxins and bacteria that may cause infection and affect your kidneys.

3. Stellaria Media Heals Acne.

Acne troubles adults as much as teenagers. Stellaria media cleanses the skin pores when applied externally. It also softens as well as moisturizes your skin.

4. It’s An Effective Weight Loss Remedy.

Chickweed works as a laxative. It rids the body of toxins as well as other waste. Stellaria Media is also known to suppress appetite.

5. Chickweed Relieves Indigestion.

Constipation and indigestion are the two most common problems today. Chickweed, however, clears the stomach and intestines to enhance your digestive functions.

6. It Improves Your Blood Circulation.

Chickweed benefits as a blood thinner to remove any blockage in your veins. It regulates the flow of blood, improves heart health and lowers high blood pressure. Drinking chickweed tea also regulates the menstrual cycle.

7. It Reduces Muscle & Joint Pain.

Since Stellaria media is anti-inflammatory in nature, it rids body inflammation to reduce muscle as well as joint pain and lower the burning sensations.

Chickweed Tea Recipe

  • Boil 500ml of water in a pan or kettle.
  • Add a teaspoon of dried or 2 teaspoons of freshly chopped chickweed leaves in a cup.
  • Pour the water in a cup after the water boils.
  • Cover the cup and let it steep for 5 minutes.
  • Drink the tea twice for weight loss.

Tip: Cool the tea. Add some fresh aloe vera gel to the infusion and apply over your skin for cuts or bruises. It will help clear any inflammation.
