Ugh, hangovers are worst. Sleeping is hard and being awake is even harder. If you thought you simply have to wait it out, we’re happy to tell you that you’re wrong!

Getting on your yoga mat is probably the last thing you want to do when hungover – but doing just that will give your body a much-needed push to recover. Here’s how to relieve a hangover with yoga.

How to Relieve a Hangover with Easy Yoga Stretches

1. Child’s Pose for Gentle Healing

Child’s Pose is one of the most popular yoga poses for beginners. It soothes anxiety, reduces blood pressure, and eases headaches. It also promotes blood flow and detoxification.

2. Thunderbolt Pose for an Upset Stomach

If you spent last night drinking, chances are you’ve ended up with an upset stomach. Thunderbolt Pose works as an excellent hangover cure by helping your digestive system cleanse itself. It also stills the mind and boosts concentration.

3. Upward Facing Dog for Energy

Upward Facing Dog is among our favourite hangover remedies. It stretches your back, neck, and shoulders. It boosts oxygen in your lungs and in turn, all your organs – making you feel better instantly! If you’ve got the post-party blues, you should definitely try this hangover cure.

4. Legs Up the Wall for Easy Relaxation

What’s good for a hangover? Plenty of blood flow to the brain. When you don’t feel like doing anything else, go for this pose. Legs Up the Wall is as easy as it sounds – just stick your legs up the wall and relax! Being an inversion, it treats headaches, depression, and restlessness.

5. Corpse Pose for Deeeeep Relaxation

End your session with Corpse Pose. Among the easiest hangover remedies, it helps release tension and exhaustion from your body, part by part. Feeling grumpy? Corpse Pose will take care of that too – it’s incredibly soothing for the mind. You might just drift off to sleep.

Some More Tips…

  • Drink truckloads of water.
  • Don’t push yourself too much – listen to your body.
  • Not hungry? Don’t skip meals. Have juices and soup instead.
  • Boost potassium and energy with bananas.
  • Ginger tea is an excellent hangover cure. Sip on it for relief from headaches, indigestion, and nausea.
  • Get outside and breathe some fresh air. Your body will thank you, we promise!
