The dryness, itching, and pain from having a sore throat are enough to ruin anyone’s day. The majority of sore throats result from infections. If yours has too, you’re probably all the more bogged down by other symptoms like a runny nose, watery eyes, and weakness. But not to worry, you can quite easily treat it in the comfort of your home. Here’s how to cure a sore throat fast and naturally.

How To Cure A Sore Throat Fast: 5 Powerful Remedies

1. Turmeric

Turmeric is one of the most powerful herbs out there. It fights inflammation and bacteria, relieves pain, reduces stress, and induces better sleep. You can consume it as a tea or gargle with it.

To have it as a tea, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and then add a tablespoon of turmeric to it. Let it reduce to half the amount and then drink warm. Remember to never drink it too hot. To use it as a gargle, add half a teaspoon of salt to half a cup of warm water and gargle. Do this first thing in the morning and before you hit the bed.

2. Sage

Known as ‘sefakuss’ in Ayurveda, sage has potent medicinal qualities that can help you get rid of a sore throat. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, and immensely soothing effects. It has a lovely fragrance and pungent taste. And it also takes care of the other symptoms you might be experiencing if you have a cold.

Prepare a calming cup of sage tea by adding 2 tablespoons of the leaves to a cup of hot water. Let it stay for about 15 minutes and then drink it warm.

3. Salt Water

Next on our list of sore throat solutions is salt water. An excellent age old remedy for the symptoms of a sore throat, it relieves itchiness and reduces inflammation. It works instantly and we bet you’ll be able to sleep much better. So, we highly recommend this one!

All you need to do is add half a teaspoon of salt to an 8 ounce cup of warm water. Mix the salt into the water. Then, gargle it for around 20 seconds. Repeat it 3-4 times. You can do this gargle first thing in the morning, last thing in the night, and a few times in between.

4. Holy Basil (Tulsi)

Holy basil a.k.a tulsi is an important medicinal herb in Ayurveda that offers a wide range of health benefits. You’d see it on the ingredients lists of many natural cough syrups because it helps your body get rid of phlegm as well as relieves the symptoms of cold and the flu – including sore throats. It reduces pain and inflammation, and it also gives you a much-needed boost in immunity.

Here’s how to cure a sore throat fast with tulsi: simply chew a handful of leaves! Or brew a tea with a 6-7 tulsi leaves in a cup of water. You could add a wee bit of honey for taste.

5. Honey

Honey is a common answer to how to cure a sore throat fast. That’s because this delicious Ayurvedic medicine is wonderfully soothing to the throat. It’s packed with antioxidants and has antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties.

If you are already drinking other teas, you can simply have a couple of teaspoons a day. Or, you could prepare yourself a delicious golden honey tea. Just heat up a cup of water and add a teaspoon of raw honey to it. Enjoy it warm.

One Final Tip:
