Sage is an evergreen perennial shrub that comes in countless varieties. Besides having that fresh, unique, and pleasant aroma, it also has numerous medicinal properties. Exactly what is sage used for? It helps in the preparation of several Ayurvedic medicines and beauty products. And, sage tea is one common way you can use sage leaves. Here are the sage benefits:

1. The Sage Herb Helps Fight Depression.

Antioxidants like diosmetin, apigenin as well as luteolin can be found in the sage herb. They make the tea soothing and also energizing for the mind. One cup daily encourages better functioning of the body and lowers stress levels, which helps prevent the cycle of negative thoughts.

2. Sage Tea Cures Indigestion.

The sage herb has antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, consistent usage can reduce the abdominal inflammation along with fighting bad bacteria in your intestines.

3. Sage Is Effective For Diabetes.

Your insulin levels spike when you drink sage herb tea regularly. Since it has hypoglycemic properties, sage benefits by reducing the glucose levels – which in turn helps manage type 2 diabetes.

Boil sage leaves in a glass of water, strain, and gargle with the same – or just drink it with some honey. You can also rub sage leaves on your teeth to maintain dental hygiene.

Why sage tea? Because it’s one solution to many health problems! What about the sage tea benefits? There are many without any side effects. This caffeinated-free summer drink can easily be a part of your daily routine. It keeps you hydrated and here’s a simple recipe:

  • Take a few sage leaves and wash them properly.
  • Fill a saucepan with one cup water and bring it to boil.
  • Add the sage leaves.
  • Let these boil for 5 minutes and allow to steep for another 3-4 minutes.
  • Strain the tea, add some honey and drink warm.
