Eyes are the most precious organs in the human body. Losing eyesight or a part of the eye can take away the joy of seeing the world. Trachoma threatens your precious eyes and can cost you everything. Try these natural home remedies to treat the trachoma eye infection.

What Is Trachoma?

Trachoma is an eye infection. Usually, children are prone to develop the infection. Trachoma disease does not show symptoms in the initial stage – they may get aggravated during adulthood. The disease begins with the formation of follicles or small bumps on the inner surface of the upper eyelid. In the end, trachoma disease can cause clouding in the cornea.

What Causes Trachoma Disease?

Trachoma disease is caused because of the bacterium chlamydia trachomatis. It is a contagious eye infection that spreads through contact with eyes, eyelids, nose, and throat secretions. Using and touching infected objects can also spread the disease.

What Are The Trachoma Disease Symptoms?

  • Itching and irritation of the eyes
  • Discharge from eyes
  • Eyelid swelling
  • Light sensitivity
  • Pain in the eyes

Trachoma Treatment

1. Chamomile Tea Is An Effective Trachoma Treatment.

Chamomile has antioxidant and antibacterial properties. Boil a teaspoon of chamomile tea leaves in a cup of water for 10 minutes. Let the tea cool down and drink it warm.

2. Prepare A Flaxseed Warm Compress.

Flaxseeds are anti-inflammatory. They help in bringing down the infection. Boil a cup of water and add a teaspoon of flaxseeds. Steep the tea for about 5-8 minutes. Strain and allow to cool a little. Soak a clean towel cloth in the warm mixture and drain the excess water. Place the cloth on the eyes as a hot compress. Repeat twice daily.

3. Use Jasmine Flower Eye Drops.

An eye infection from trachoma disease is curable with natural eye drops. Jasmine is anti-inflammatory, which reduces burning in eyes. Fill a jar with distilled water. Add some jasmine flowers and leave them overnight. Wash your eyes with the detox water the next day. Add a few drops twice daily.

4. Potato Helps Soothe The Eyes.

Potato leaves a cooling effect on the eyes. The eye infection makes the eyes feel inflamed. Therefore, cut a few slices from a well-washed potato. Keep these slices on your closed eyelids. Once the slices do not feel cold any more, take them off and wash your eyes.

5. Try Rose Water To Cure The Eye Infection.

Rose water is an effective trachoma treatment. It helps in removing dirt as well as dust particles from the eyes. Rose water also acts as an eye toner. Put a few drops of rosewater in your eyes daily to heal them from the eye infection.
