Wilson’s disease or Wilson’s syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder that occurs due to a genetic abnormality. Excessive copper gets accumulated in different parts of the body. Tremors, yellowing of the skin and anemia are some of the Wilson’s disease symptoms. What Is Wilson’s Disease?
Wilson’s disease is a condition wherein excessive copper accumulates in the body, especially eyes. The syndrome, however, is a group of symptoms that represent a form of thyroid hormone deficiency. Therefore, both Wilson’s disease, as well as Wilson’s syndrome, are two different ailments.
What Causes The Wilson’s Disease?
Other than being a genetic abnormality, the disease is classified under “Beej Dosha” according to Ayurveda. It occurs due to an increase in both the vata as well as pitta dosha.

Wilson’s Disease Treatment
1. Echinacea Tea Is A Wonderful Remedy.
Since echinacea is a traditional Chinese herb that has anti-inflammatory properties, it cures the symptoms. Therefore, add one teaspoon of dried echinacea herb powder in a cup boiling water. Steep the tea for about 5 minutes. Strain it and consume twice daily.
2. Detox Water Reduces The Wilson’s Disease Symptoms.
Take a pitcher filled with water. Add a few lemon slices, cucumber, ginger as well as basil. Let it infuse for 3 to 4 hours and then, drink the water throughout the day. This will help detoxify your liver and get rid of the extra copper through urine.
3. Gokshura Helps Manage Wilson’s Disease.
Gokshura helps strengthen your immune system and helps soothe anxiety. This herb also helps reduce the effects of vitiated pitta. Therefore, take one teaspoon of gokshura herb powder with milk or ghee every day to ease the symptoms.
4. Punarnava Is Also Beneficial.
Punarnava is a diuretic as well as a coolant that helps detoxify the liver and relax any inflammation in the body. So in a glass of warm milk, add one teaspoon of powdered punarnava roots. Drink this twice every day before your meals and you’ll feel the difference.
5. Phyllanthus Niruri Soothes the Condition.
Take only about 2-3 mg of Phyllanthus niruri herb powder. Drink it with milk every day or simply add to a cup of boiling water. It’s a wonderful herb that helps cures a wide variety of diseases including the Wilson’s disease.
