  • 6. Milk and Ghee
  • 7. Nuts
  • 8. Turmeric

The system of Ayurveda recognises that the food you eat decides not only how physically fit you are – but also how you think and feel on a daily basis. Plenty of modern studies confirm this. With these 8 healthy foods to eat everyday, experience the immense benefits of good nutrition yourself!

8 Healthy Foods To Eat Everyday

1. Green Veggies

Green veggies are the ultimate health food. They are low in fat but high in fibre and nutrients like vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, iron, proteins, and antioxidants. Kale is one of the most nutrition-packed vegetables. Bok Choy is among the best sources of calcium. And there’s so much more to choose from: spinach, broccoli, okra (bhindi or ladies’ finger), green beans, chard, cabbage, lettuce…the list goes on.

2. Berries

When you crave sugar, there’s nothing healthier to reach for than berries. They are powerhouses of antioxidants that reduce cell damage as well as support healthy ageing. Blueberries, strawberries, cherries, blackberries, bilberries…eat all of these for an everyday health boost and stronger immunity.

3. Ginger

Ginger is one of the healthiest spices on the planet. It has strong anti-inflammatory, immunity boosting, as well as antioxidant properties. Digestion is crucial for good health. And ginger’s benefits for the digestive system have been long recognised in Ayurveda. It improves metabolism, helps absorb nutrients better, and treats indigestion. You can drink ginger tea, or simply spice up your food with it.

4. Bananas

Bananas are among the fruits to eat everyday. They have zero fat and cholesterol. On the other hand, they’ve got oodles of potassium, fibre, vitamin B-6, manganese, and vitamin C. We love how easy it is to incorporate them into oatmeal, smoothies, and desserts – or to simply put into your bag and eat on the go. Being a good source of energy, yet light to digest, they make an excellent pre-yoga snack.

5. Good Oils

It’s common to forget oils while looking for healthy foods to eat everyday. But they make a big difference. Extra virgin coconut oil is a versatile and healthy Ayurvedic oil. It contains lauric acid that boosts immunity, and heart-healthy fats. Extra virgin olive oil has plenty of antioxidants and raises good cholesterol. Other healthy oils are flaxseed oil, canola oil, avocado oil, and walnut oil.

6. Milk and Ghee

Next on our list of healthy foods to eat daily are milk and ghee. Organic cow milk from happy and healthy cows is one of the best thing you can feed your system, according to Ayurvedic experts. Milk is a complete meal, and it has a deeply nourishing effect on the body. Ghee is generally suitable for those with lactose intolerance. It reduces inflammation, promotes detoxification, boosts immunity, and enhances digestion.

7. Nuts

Make nuts your daily snack – by helping you feel fuller, they’ll keep you from grabbing junk food. Almonds are packed with nutrients like vitamin E, calcium, fibre, and magnesium. Walnuts give you Omega-3 fatty acids, polyphenols, protein, copper, manganese, and fibre too. Eat a handful for a daytime energy punch.

8. Turmeric

Last on our list of healthy foods to eat daily is turmeric. One of the most widely researched herbs on the planet, turmeric has powerful anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antioxidant, and pain relieving properties. It boosts immunity, promotes better sleep, helps lose weight, improves digestion, and can also reduce the effects of stress on the brain. Simply add turmeric to your food, or you could drink a delicious cup of turmeric milk with black pepper and honey everyday.
