This naturally occurring hard crystal compound is an all-rounder for the treatment of several routine health issues. You can easily get it at grocery stores. Alum uses mostly include preliminary healthcare. So, here’s exactly what is alum and the impressive alum benefits…

What Is Alum (Fitkari)?

Alum a.k.a potash alum (potassium aluminium sulphate) is an odorless as well as transparent crystalline block or powder that has an astringent and sweet taste.

Alum Uses And Benefits

1. Alum Is Used As An Alternative To After-Shave.

This practice has been in use since ages. It helps soothe the skin after shaving, prevents razor bumps and also heals minor cuts.

2. Alum Cures Canker Sores.

Simply apply alum powder onto the canker sores to initiate faster healing. You can also gargle with alum water to cure mouth ulcers.

3. Alum Benefits In Eye Problems.

Being antiviral, antibacterial as well as antifungal in nature, alum benefits in eye problems. Apply a paste of alum powder mixed in sandalwood powder with rosewater 3-4 times daily to diminish eye abscesses.

4. Alum (Fitkari) Helps Treat Acne.

Being antiseptic and astringent in nature, alum helps disinfect the skin. So, use this face mask for 20 minutes thrice a week: in 2 tbsp Multani mitti, mix 2 tbsp rose water and 1 tsp alum powder. Apply and then, wash off with warm water.

5. Alum Benefits As A Deodorant.

Why choose chemicals when you’ve got the option of all-natural? Since alum is an antiperspirant, you can simply rub the alum block on your underarms or areas where you sweat.

6. Alum Heals Fever Faster.

In a glass of warm cow milk, add some edible alum powder and drink it every day. This helps treat fever and even control the symptoms of jaundice.

7. Alum Benefits In Muscle Cramps.

The alum uses include getting rid of muscular spasm. Depending on the size of the affected area, take alum powder, a pinch of turmeric powder and some water to form a paste. Apply this over your skin, and you’ll see the inflammation disappear in just a matter of days.

8. Alum Relieves Toothache.

Massage your teeth with a mix of 20 g alum powder and 20 g rock salt. This helps strengthen your gums and teeth to also cure any associated problems like toothache.

9. Alum Is An Anti-Aging Treatment.

That everyday exposure to pollution and stress shows up on your skin. Therefore, use an alum natural anti-aging mask. Apply a paste of alum powder and some honey for 20 minutes every alternate day to reduce fine lines and other signs.

10. Alum Is An Effective Head Lice Remedy.

To get rid of head lice, mix around 5g of alum powder in half a liter water and apply it on your hair. Keep for 30 minutes and wash off with a mild shampoo.
