Taking care of your health is a lifelong commitment. It requires efforts each day, be at home or at work. At home, it’s somewhat easier but at work, it’s the opposite. Workplace health includes the encouragement of positive work habits along with a healthy environment. Therefore, it’s a must to properly manage your work and life balance.

Workplace Health – Why It’s Needed

Your workplace is like a second home. It is where you spend almost 8-10 or more hours a day. Performance and competition pressure makes it impossible to adopt better work habits. This leads to backache, stress, anxiety, high or low blood pressure, improper sleep, diabetes, lowering performance, and troubled interpersonal relationships. Neither are you able to focus on your daily tasks nor are your private life issues resolved.

Simply separating the two areas isn’t enough. Inculcating better work habits is equally important to succeed in life and take care of occupational health. So, here are some tips to keep your life and health at work under control.

Maintaining Occupational Health

1. Take Breaks.

Work and life balance is achievable even when you’re on deadlines. How? Take (necessary) breaks. Every 90 minutes, go walk around. Do some chair and eye exercises or simply meditate. It helps boost productivity and your overall health at work.

2. Maintain Your Posture.

Workplace health is majorly compromised due to maintaining the wrong posture. So, it’s necessary to sit with a straight back and sustain your health at work.

3. Build Understanding.

We are all different beings. And this is also true at work, which is why it’s important to be compassionate and understanding towards others. It helps keep you at peace.

4. Stay Hydrated.

We all get careless when it comes to staying hydrated. So, equip your desk with herbal teas and water. It will keep you cool as well as disease-free.

5. Get Your Own Lunch.

Bring home-cooked food to avoid having junk. Outside food affects the flora in your gut, leading to several related disorders. Workplace health doesn’t just focus on your emotional well-being, but also on nutritional intake.

6. Don’t Stress.

But, how’s that even possible at work? Remove negative energy from your surroundings or else it hinders your speed. So, maybe you try aromatherapy to achieve workplace wellness. A mild and rosy body mist can be cooling. Room spritz of lavender helps relieve anxiety. And any citrus fragrance can be uplifting.

7. Plan Ahead Of Time.

Mornings are for Kapha and Kapha peple are followers. So, why not write your to-do list the previous evening and follow it the next morning? That way you already know what needs to be done.

8. Go For Walks.

Sitting for long hours in a controlled environment is unhealthy for both your body and mind. Therefore, go outdoors. Sync with nature. Breathe fresh air. Reduce the strain on your legs. It’s great for your workplace health.

9. Meditate.

Work is stressful. So, it’s important to take care of your mental health. Take a 10-minute meditation break, go to an empty room, sit and relax. Close your eyes, calm yourself and disconnect all the thoughts for a few minutes. This will give you better clarity.
