Pumpkins may not be everyone’s favorite, but it indeed is high in nutrition. Pumpkin benefits the body in various ways. And, it’s in fact much more than a Halloween symbol. Kids love to carve it but definitely not eat it. But, check out these health benefits of pumpkin and some easy as well as go-to pumpkin recipes to make the most of it.

Pumpkin Benefits

1. Pumpkin Leaves Are Dosha Balancing.

Pumpkin leaves benefit the body by balancing Pitta and Vata Dosha. According to Ayurveda, sufficient pumpkin nutrition detoxifies the body and sharpens the mind.

2. It Reverses Signs Of Aging.

Pumpkin benefits in reversing the age-related damage. It contains niacin which improves blood circulation. Skin becomes clean and acne-free with every application of pumpkin on the skin.

3. Enhance Hair Growth With Pumpkin.

The health benefits of pumpkin fruit include stronger and shinier hair. Vitamin B, potassium, and zinc promote hair growth.

4. Protection From Cancer Cells.

Pumpkin is rich in betacarotene, vitamins A and K, and zinc. The pumpkin nutrition prevents cancer. 

5. Try Pumpkin Recipes To Treat Infections. 

The antioxidative properties of pumpkin fight infections in the body. Pumpkin leaves or the fruit itself helps strengthen your immune system by creating resistance to viruses and bacteria.

6. Pumpkin Nutrition Reduces Heart Risk.

The health benefits of pumpkin include the removal of any harmful buildup from the arteries. It keeps the blood pressure under control and lowers the risk of heart diseases.

7. Pumpkin Leaves Are Good For Digestion.

Pumpkin has a high amount of fiber, making it suitable for digestion. It is also known to prevent peptic ulcer.

Pumpkin Recipes

Pumpkin Juice

  • Wash, peel, and chop a pumpkin, sweet potato, and a carrot.
  • Put all the vegetables in a juicer to get their juices.
  • Take 1/2 cup of skimmed milk and mix it with the juices.
  • Store it in a refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Garnish with mint leaves and drink.

Pumpkin Halwa

  • Put a pan on the stove and add a tbsp of ghee. Roast some cashews or pistachios.
  • Keep them aside once they become golden brown.
  • Take 2 cups of grated pumpkin and put it in the pan with ghee. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Add a few tablespoons of milk and sprinkle a pinch of cardamom powder. Cook till the milk is absorbed.
  • Add some jaggery according to taste and let it cook.
  • Once the halwa thickens, turn the heat off.
  • Add the fried nuts and serve.

Pumpkin Soup

  • Cook one sliced onion in a tablespoon of oil.
  • Add a cup of diced pumpkin and let it cook for 5-8 minutes.
  • Pour 2.5 cups of vegetable broth in the pan and add salt. Bring to boil and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Pour 150 ml double cream into the pan and boil.
  • Puree the pumpkin with a blender and pour in a bowl.
