For a long time, castor oil has traditionally been used for skin and hair in regions like Egypt, Greece, India, and China. This oil is packed with the goodness of nutrients like vitamin E and Omega-9 fatty acids. It works pretty well since the skin absorbs it quite easily. Here are 5 excellent beauty uses of castor oil.

5 Beauty Uses Of Castor Oil

1. Gets Rid Of Acne

It’s a popular misconception that applying oil to skin always worsens acne since it clogs pores. But this isn’t always true. Certain kinds like castor oil uproot dirt, remove build up of excess oil, nourish the skin, and get rid of acne-causing bacteria. You can apply castor oil on your face to treat existing acne and prevent it from appearing. Here’s a list of other Ayurvedic remedies for acne.

2. Combats Hair Fall

Ayurvedic doctors often prescribe castor oil for hair growth since it improves scalp health. That’s because it contains fatty acids and antioxidants that nourish the scalp, restore pH balance, and help your hair recover from damage. It’s a great ingredient to moisturise as well as disinfect your scalp. Once a week, massage your scalp in circular motions with warm castor oil. Here are more natural ways to fix hair fall.

3. Improves Hair Texture

Next on the list of uses of castor oil for hair is for improving the texture of hair. If your hair is dry, dull, rough or frizzy, chances are that some castor oil treatment can take care of all your troubles. Since it is both moisturising and nourishing, it works as an excellent remedy for weakened hair. It can also prevent hair breakage. Apply it onto your scalp and hair twice a week and wash off after 1 or 2 hours.

4. Treats Dry Skin

In the winter months, a hydrating oil is your skin’s best friend. One of the well-known uses of castor oil for skin is moisturisation. It’s packed with fatty acids that seep into the skin rather well. So, massage your dry skin regularly with castor oil. You should already see results in a week or so. And it’s wise to not wait for your lips to start cracking – as soon as the weather gets cold and dry, rub a bit of castor oil on your lips every day. This will make sure that they stay hydrated and soft.

5. Prevents Premature Greying

Another one of the important benefits of castor oil for hair. This ingredient is excellent to prevent premature greying. Here’s a traditional recipe. Mix equal parts jojoba oil and castor oil. Apply it onto your scalp in circular motions. Wash it off after 30 minutes. This boosts blood circulation, supplies nutrients to your scalp, and moisturises it. And massaging your head also busts stress – a common cause of premature greying. Here are more remedies for premature greying.
