What is apraxia? It’s a neurological disorder where the ability to move is compromised. Apraxia is also counted among speech disorders. The apraxia symptoms include speech delay, along with delayed motor movement caused by an injury or other associated factors. However, treatment is successful in Ayurveda.
What Is Apraxia?
The condition is classified under various categories. Orofacial apraxia is a type wherein you’re unable to perform any facial movements like winking, yawning or moving the tongue around the mouth. The apraxia of speech makes it difficult to speak properly. The tongue as well as facial muscles are unable to move even when you may want to speak. There are two types of apraxia of speech: acquired, which may occur at any age, and developmental, which is observed during infancy.
What Causes Apraxia?
Developmental apraxia causes are unknown. But we do know the acquired apraxia causes, which include:
- Head injury
- Brain tumor
What Are Apraxia Symptoms?
- Minimal babbling during infancy
- Speech delay
- Difficulty connecting syllables in an order
- Inability to speak long or complicated words
- Pronunciation issues
- Inconsistent speech
- Dependency on non-verbal language like signing or pointing towards something
- Irregular vowel sounds
- Struggle in forming sentences
What is Apraxia Treatment?
1. Brahmi Is An Effective Remedy.
Speech delay can be cured with Brahmi since it contains saponins to positively impact the neurotransmitters in your brain. It also increases serotonin levels to enhance neurological functions. Therefore, heat 10 ml of Brahmi oil to massage your scalp every day. And then, just wash off the next morning.
2. Treat The Condition With Shankhpushpi.
Shankhpushpi, just like Brahmi, acts as a tonic to improve brain functioning. The consumption of shankhpushpi also helps autistic children. Therefore, take about 250mg of shankhpushpi powder with one teaspoon ghee twice every day for strengthening the nervous system.
3. Cure Speech Disorders With Ashwagandha.
What is apraxia? A neurological disorder. What can help bring back the vigor a well as vitality? Ashwagandha! So, take 2 teaspoons (2-3g) of ashwagandha root powder with a teaspoon of ghee or warm milk daily after meals. Consume this twice for better results.
4. Use Amla For Speech Delay.
Since amla has neuroprotective properties, you can use it to get rid of the apraxia symptoms. So, chew one dried amla daily to promote better speech and strengthen the muscles.
