Kala azar, also known as black fever or visceral leishmaniasis, is the second most dangerous disease caused by a parasite. It is transfused into humans or animals through sand fly bites.

What Is Black Fever?

Black fever is a fatal infection caused by female sand fly bites. The parasite feeds as well as multiplies inside the female sand fly and then gets transmitted to the person this mosquito bites. The kala azar symptoms include frequent periods of fever as well as pigmentation on the forehead, abdomen, hands, and legs. Eventually, black fever can also lead to sudden death if not taken proper care of.

What Causes Kala Azar?

Kala azar or black fever is caused by a protozoan parasite belonging to the Leishmania genus. The parasite gets transmitted to a person by female sand fly bites. This fly consumes the blood of the infected human or animal and then passes it off to the next one it bites.

What Are The Kala Azar Symptoms?

  • Low platelets, low RBC
  • Prolonged fever
  • Weight loss
  • Pigmentation on the skin
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Cold and cough
  • Occasional bleeding

Visceral Leishmaniasis (Black Fever) Treatment

1. Basil Tea Works Best For Treating Kala Azar.

Boil in a cup of water one tablespoon crushed basil leaves as well as ¼ tablespoon black pepper. Let it steep for about 5 minutes and then strain the tea. Drink it twice daily to help relax all your senses as well as increase energy to fight the disease.

2. Fenugreek Easily Cures Black Fever.

Soak overnight one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in half a cup of water. Next morning, strain the water and drink it to reduce the symptoms of black fever. Fenugreek also helps to revive your taste buds which you may commonly lose when in fever.

3. Giloy Pacifies The Fever Caused By Sand Fly Bites.

Since giloy has anti-inflammatory properties, you can extract some fresh giloy fruit juice to drink it daily. Not just this, giloy extract tablets too are beneficial. You can take these twice every day to increase your platelet count. Being a potent antioxidant, giloy is considered equal to “amrit” (a divine potion).

4. Oregano Tea Soothes The Effects Of Visceral Leishmaniasis.

Boil one tablespoon oregano as well as one tablespoon marjoram in a cup of water. Let the tea steep for about 4-5 minutes. Upon cooling, drink the tea to soothe your mind as well as throat. It will help reduce the fever fast.

5. Fruit Juices Rejuvenate The Body And Eliminate Weakness.

Drink fresh fruit juices but make sure that they are not sour. Amla (sour) is not recommended in kala azar. On the other hand, sugarcane juice is recommended twice in a day for better results. You can also add a pinch of black pepper powder or half a teaspoon of ginger juice for a speedy recovery.
