Nearly 75% of the fiber content in chickpeas is insoluble. So by the time it reaches the colon, the undigested fibre bulks up the stools, eases our digestive process, and also boosts absorption of nutrients. Here are some more excellent foods for healthy digestion.

By improving the functioning of the gall bladder, chickpeas reduce our cholesterol levels. The soluble fiber reduces LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol levels, which helps prevent cardiovascular diseases and keeps your heart beating healthily.

3. Health Benefits Of Chickpeas For Diabetes

An important factor in diabetes management is preventing sugar levels from rising immediately after eating. The fiber and protein in chickpeas, along with their low GI index, helps limit unwanted blood sugar spikes after you’ve had your meals.

One of the lesser-known health benefits of chickpeas is that they help in weight loss. Chickpeas have a fairly low calorie density.
