Lavender essential oil is prepared by steam distilling the flowers. It is a very gentle oil, but extremely powerful. By far, this lovely fragrant oil is one of the most popular and versatile. The lavender essential oil benefits range from beauty, and culinary to medicinal.

Ayurveda considers lavender a ‘medhya’ herb because it has tremendous rejuvenating power over our mind. For its effect on doshas, Ayurveda considers it to be Pitta and Vata pacifying. We have put together some lavender essential oil uses that will absolutely delight you.

Lavender Essential Oil Benefits

1. Lavender Oil Relaxes The Mind.

Lavender oil benefits by calming the mind, and hence works well for stress disorders like anxiety. A gentle massage with this wonderful oil can relax those tired muscles and nerves. Or a few drops added to bathwater works wonders too. It is absolutely refreshing and rejuvenating. A must try – we promise, you’ll get hooked!

2. Lavender Oil Helps You Sleep.

The ancients didn’t need research to prove it…they’ve been using lavender as a natural insomnia remedy for ages! Current studies also acknowledge the sedative effects of lavender on the brain. Rub few drops of this oil on your palms or apply few drops to your pillow and bedcover. You will drift off to peaceful sleep.

3. Lavender Oil Heals Headaches.

Headaches can be due to stress, or medical conditions like sinus or digestive problems. Lavender essential oil benefits all kinds of headaches and migraines. It is anti inflammatory, analgesic, and anxiety-relieving. Gently rub oil onto the temples, forehead and/or the neck. It brings great relief and can even prevent the onset of headaches.

4. Lavender Oil Soothes Skin Burns.

There are lavender essential oil uses for our skin too. It is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, and so it’s very effective in treating burns. It is also pain relieving and can heal mild burn scars. A few drops on the affected area is a good first aid in mild cases. It can also be used for treating minor cuts and wounds as it promotes collagen synthesis and tissue repair.

5. Lavender Oil Treats Acne.

Acne is a problem faced by teenagers and even adults these days. No worries! You can just apply lavender oil on those annoying breakouts. Because pure lavender oil restricts acne-causing bacteria and regulates excess sebum excretion. It can also take care of the scars left behind.

6. Lavender Oil Treats Dandruff.

One of the lavender oil uses is for our dry and itchy scalp. Massage your scalp with a warm oil mix of around 15 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 tablespoons of almond or olive oil. Leave for an hour and rinse. There will be no more bothersome dandruff flakes!
