So, you want to boost your immunity? Ayurveda lays special importance on maintaining body strength and immunity, since it’s impossible to live a healthy life without a strong immune system. Not just that, Ayurveda also provides us with many foods and herbs that function as Ayurvedic medicine for immunity. Here are some of them…

Ayurvedic Medicine For Immunity

1. Pomegranate

Did you know that pomegranate has more antioxidants than green tea? This tropical fruit is packed with immunity-boosting nutrients and should therefore be a part of everyone’s diet. It improves digestive health, which is crucial for strong immunity according to Ayurveda. It also reduces inflammation and fights premature ageing. Drink pomegranate juice regularly.

2. Ashwagandha (Winter Cherry)

Scientifically known as withania somnifera, ashwagandha is an excellent Ayurvedic medicine for immunity. This herb has been used to boost strength and rejuvenate the body for many years. It provides deep nourishment to the body, increases energy levels, reduces stress and depression, improves sleep, and balances hormones – all of which work to boost immunity.

3. Turmeric

Turmeric is among the best Ayurvedic medicines for immunity improvement. Plenty of research proves that this herb fights inflammation in the body, reduces the effects of stress on the brain, and can even fight tumours. Turmeric balances all the three doshas. You can drink it with warm milk or add it to your food.

4. Chyawanprash

Chyawanprash is an ancient Ayurvedic medicine for immunity. This is a formulation of many ingredients including fruits, herbs, oil, ghee (clarified butter), and honey. In India, it has been used to treat weak immunity for centuries. It warms the body, provides deep nourishment to the tissues, reduces toxins, elevates energy levels, and boosts hemoglobin as well as white blood cell count.

5. Garlic

Garlic is quite popular among the immunity boosting foods Ayurveda recognises. It’s a fantastic home remedy for cough and cold, as well as skin infections. This food has powerful antibacterial, anti-fungal, antibiotic, and anti-inflammatory properties – making it a strong immunity booster. It also reduces blood pressure as well as cholesterol. It’s best to eat garlic raw.

5. Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Forget about oranges – amla, also known as Indian gooseberry is a much richer source of immune boosting vitamin C. It’s used in tons of Ayurvedic medicines to boost immunity, including chyawanprash. Amla also contains other nutrients like iron, fibre, calcium, and phosphorous. It helps detoxify as well as rejuvenate the body. Enjoy an amla drink everyday and you’ll experience a difference.

6. Tulsi (Holy Basil)

Tulsi is a highly valued Ayurvedic medicine for immunity. This herb is so powerful that Indians have considered it sacred for many years. Tulsi has strong anti-bacterial as well as antiviral abilities. It improves respiratory health, regulates blood sugar levels, reduces stress levels, and can also fight cancer. Drink warm tulsi tea everyday for stronger immunity.

7. Ghee

An Ayurvedic superfood, ghee is simply clarified butter. It has a host of health benefits, including stronger immunity. Ghee reduces oxidative stress since it contains plenty of vitamin A. It fights inflammation, promotes detoxification, improves digestion, and reduces Vata as well as Pitta aggravation. Pour a few drops of ghee over your food and you will certainly grow stronger.
