Our skin is the first to show us that all is not well within. One of the earliest signs appears on our face – acne! These mean-looking, reddish, painful lumps are caused when the hair follicles on our skin get clogged with oil and dirt. When bacteria infects these pores, they get inflamed forming reddish pus filled bumps. How to get rid of acne? Here are simple ingredients you can use for acne treatment at home.

Best Acne Treatment Ingredients

1. Toothpaste – Quick & Simple

Mint based toothpaste works as a very easy, fast, and effective acne treatment. It quickly dries up that nasty pus filled acne. Before you go for a bath, dab a little toothpaste on your fingertips and apply it gently on the acne. Wash it off and pat it dry. Do this once more before you go to bed. This helps to ease the pus out of the acne gradually. Yes…it does sting. But no gain without pain!

2. Tea Tree Oil – Complete Acne Removal

One of the best acne treatment essential oils, tea tree oil is deeply cleansing. Dab a little pure tea tree oil before you go to sleep. Rinse your face in the morning and gently wash it off with a mild face wash. The strong and powerful anti bacterial properties of this oil kill all the germs and bacteria, open the pores and help drain out the pus.

3. Onion – A Powerful Solution

How to get rid of acne? Try onion. Applying a slice of onion directly on the pus filled acne till you feel the heat is a natural way to tackle those pimples. Onions, sure to be found in most of our kitchens, contain a strong microbial substance that helps the pus drain out of the acne. If you repeat this twice or thrice a day, your face will be clean and clear in a few days.

4. Honey & Cinnamon – Ancient & Effective

One of the oldest home remedies for acne is a honey and cinnamon mask. Heat up 3 tbsp of Manuka honey and 1 tbsp of true cinnamon to a comfortably warm point. Apply it on the troubled areas. Leave it on for around 20 to 30 minutes, rinse and pat dry. Do this twice a day. Both ingredients have anti-microbial properties and are very effective in treating skin conditions. Honey reduces inflammation, helping the wound heal faster making this a natural way to heal those pores.

5. Green Tea – Cooling & Cleansing

Green tea is one of the best acne treatment ingredients. So, how to get rid of acne with green tea? While drinking green tea keeps those acne away from the inside, cooling and applying the used tea bags on the affected areas helps reduce skin inflammation. Loaded with antioxidants, green tea has antibacterial properties. You can even make ice cubes with green tea and rub over the troubling areas to relieve you of the pain.
