Anger is an intense emotion that needs an outlet. But if you’re poor with its management, it’ll only cause self-destruction and also bother others. So, how to control anger without having to lose your sanity? Understand the triggers and start working upon them. Stress, as well as intolerance, are amongst the common causes. However, Ayurveda believes that a Pitta imbalance is the root cause of the inability to handle such fiery emotions. So, the answer is simple – incorporate a Pitta-balancing diet along with initiating a routine that helps control anger.

How To Control Anger?

1. Try Sheetali & Sheetkari Pranayama.

How to control anger with pranayama? It’s one of the best anger management techniques. Sheetali and Sheetkari pranayama are cooling breathing exercises. Sit with your eyes closed, curl your tongue into a tube, and inhale. The breath will be cool. If you cannot find a tube, then practice Sheetkari. Press your tongue on the back of your teeth and close the jaw slightly. Inhale, exhale and repeat 10-12 times.

2. Massage Your Feet With Herbal Oils.

The way you take care your feet determines how well you feel overall. The feet-and-brain connection is pretty strong. Therefore, massage your feet with a cooling oil like coconut oil to calm the raging mind.

3. Drink Chamomile & Rose Tea.

According to Ayurveda, aggravated Pitta causes anger management issues. Therefore, cooling herbs like chamomile, tulsi, and rose help pacify Pitta. Boil 1/8th teaspoon of chamomile, 1/4th teaspoon of rose, and 1/8th teaspoon of Tulsi tea leaves in a cup of water. Steep for 5-10 minutes, strain. and drink twice daily. All of these can be a part of your pitta diet.

4. Practice Nasya For Controlling Anger.

But, how to control anger with Nasya? It’s an Ayurvedic practice for cleansing the nasal passage to relieve obstructed breathing. This brings down the stress levels and supports mental clarity for controlling anger. So, just apply two to three drops of Brahmi ghee inside your nostrils and cool the nervous system.

5. Rid Aggravated Pitta For Controlling Anger.

Anger results from aggravated Pitta. Such an imbalance gives rise to severely bad behavior. Therefore, a Pitta diet that concentrates on bringing down the heat is a must. In your everyday Pitta diet:

Avoid hot, spicy, oily, salty, citrus foods and alcohol.

Consume grains like barley and oats, sweet fruits, leafy greens, beans, coconut, fennel, steamed root veggies, avocado and more.

  • Herbal decoctions keep the body cool.
  • Avoid caffeinated drinks.
