Pilonidal cyst a.k.a. Nadi Vrana in Ayurveda is a depression that develops on your tailbone. It is basically an under-the-skin problem that triggers excruciating pain as well as foul-smelling discharge. The pilonidal disease begins with a puss filled pilonidal dimple which gradually gets bigger in size. It disrupts day to day activities like sitting and sleeping.

What Are The Pilonidal Cyst Causes?

A pilonidal cyst is caused by an ingrown hair near the buttocks. Your body reacts to the hair as an alien object and forms a cyst around it. The pilonidal disease could result from an unhealthy lifestyle. Long hours of sitting in one position, obesity and even genes could be responsible.

What Are The Pilonidal Cyst Symptoms?

  • Acute pain
  • Formation of boil filled with pus
  • Pain and irritation while urinating
  • Redness
  • Inflammation
  • Foul smell
  • Oozing blood

Pilonidal Cyst Home Treatment

1. Try Warm Compress For Pilonidal Cyst Removal.

Warm compress helps improve blood circulation in the body. It reduces swelling as well as severe pain. Therefore, heat a pan full of water. Transfer the water in a bowl and soak a face towel in it. Squeeze excess water and apply the cloth onto the pilonidal dimple. Repeat the process twice every day.

2. Tea Bags Relieve Pilonidal Disease.

Both, black as well as green tea bags are an effective pilonidal cyst home treatment. They help get rid of the swelling and cure the boil faster. So, dip a black or green tea bag in a cup of warm water for 30 seconds. Squeeze the excess and keep it on the affected area. Let the bag stay for about 10 minutes and repeat the process 3-4 times in a day.

3. Honey Cinnamon Induces Pilonidal Cyst Drainage.

Since honey and cinnamon have anti-inflammatory as well as antibacterial properties, they prevent the cyst from getting infected and also drain out the pus. So, add one teaspoon of honey to one teaspoon cinnamon powder. Apply the paste for 10 to 15 minutes and wash. Repeat thrice daily.

4. Castor Oil Diminishes The Pilonidal Dimple.

Castor oil is anti-inflammatory in nature and therefore, its usage can heal the swelling and pain. Warm one teaspoon castor oil and soak a cotton ball in it. Secure it onto the cyst with the help of a bandage. Use this pilonidal cyst home treatment thrice daily and of course, change the cotton ball every time.

5. Burdock Root Heals Pilonidal Cyst.

The pilonidal disease can be quickly treated with the help of burdock root. It removes toxins from the body and speeds up the healing process. So, add one teaspoon of honey to one teaspoon of burdock root powder and form a paste. Apply this for 30 minutes on the boil and repeat several times.
