People who go crazy over street food often end up compromise on hygiene. Any food including water that’s contaminated has higher risks of causing food poisoning. What is food poisoning? Let’s educate all the foodies out there about one of the major risks they can expose themselves to! This can, in fact, happen to anyone so choosing your meals must be a priority. Here’s what is food poisoning along with how to cure food poisoning!

What Is Food Poisoning?

In the simplest words, food poisoning is a foodborne illness caused by the ingestion of toxic or contaminated food. Meat, dairy products, seafood and any edibles sold over the streets are the most likely to cause it. A group of disease-causing bacteria affects the quality of food, and the unhygienic storing conditions can eventually cause food poisoning in humans. Foods like lettuce, spinach, melons as well as packaged foods can also lead to the condition.

How To Cure Food Poisoning? Try Home Remedies!

1. Ginger To Cure Food Poisoning

It is since ages that ginger has been known for its therapeutic and preventive effects. Ginger aids digestion and supports the assimilation of nutrients. Thus, it can give you instant relief from symptoms like nausea and vomiting. Either you can drink ginger tea or some ginger juice along with honey to get relief from food poisoning. Chewing raw ginger slices is also very relieving.

2. Lemon For Food Poisoning

Lemon is a must have in your kitchen as it has antibacterial properties that can cure multiple ailments. The citric acid from the lemon can kill the bacteria that are responsible for causing food poisoning. Warm water with lemon juice can cleanse out the entire system. And you can also have a tsp of lemon juice along with a pinch of sugar to get relief from other related problems.

3. Honey Can Cure Food Poisoning

Honey is known for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. These properties make honey an effective home remedy to promote better digestion and eradicate the symptoms of food poisoning. Honey can also help in regulating the acid formation in your stomach. Thus, taking a teaspoon of honey thrice a day can heal an upset stomach.

4. Try Cumin For Food Poisoning

Cumin seeds, commonly found in our kitchens are a sure-shot home remedy to provide relaxation from stomach inflammation, abdominal discomforts and other such symptoms of food poisoning. All you need to do is boil a tsp of cumin seeds in a cup of water. Add a tsp of coriander juice and a pinch of salt.

5. Garlic Is An Effective Treatment For Food Poisoning

With its antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, garlic can effectively reduce the symptoms of food poisoning. Garlic can always en taken to provide relief from diarrhea and abdominal pain. So, you can swallow a fresh garlic clove with some water or take it in the form of a juice.
