Sex is a great thing for both the body as well as the mind. It has a ton of health benefits – it can elevate moods, boost immunity, help treat insomnia, and also improve heart health. So, you want to make sure that you have a sex life that’s as exciting and fulfilling as possible. These Ayurvedic sex tips will help.

Ayurvedic Sex Tips

1. Timing Counts.

When it comes to healthy sex, Ayurveda lays lots of emphasis on timing. The best time of the day to have sex is 2 hours after dinner. During this time, your food is digested enough for you to have the energy for sexual activity. It also promotes good sleep. The best times of the year for sex are winter and spring.

2. Reap The Benefits Of Touch.

Next on the list of Ayurvedic sex tips is this: practise ‘abhyanga’. This is the ancient and powerful technique of massage in Ayurveda. It involves massaging your body with oils such as sesame, olive, and castor oil – the oil must suit your dosha. Abhyanga offers immense benefits; it boosts blood circulation throughout the body, busts stress, and can put you in just the right state of mind (and body) for a great love making session with your partner. Massage yourself once a day, or each other before having sex. Of course, you could both!

3. Care For Your Stomach.

Taking care of your digestive system is one of the most important Ayurvedic sex tips. With an ill functioning digestive system, sex depletes the body of energy. Your body needs a proper digestive system to have enough stamina for sex. So, eat digestion boosting foods and avoid eating tamasic food. Also, it’s important to make sure that your stomach is as empty as possible for your energy to flow in the right direction. Sex on a full stomach can be quite unhealthy.

4. Spice It Up.

If your sex life needs an added push, Ayurveda offers plenty of herbal solutions. And the best part is that you can find many of them in your kitchen. For an improved sex life, take one or more of these herbs and spices for sexual performance:

  • Saffron
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Ashwagandha
  • Garlic
  • Nutmeg
  • Cardamom
  • Fennel
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Triphala

5. Melt Your Stress Away.

Managing stress levels is extremely important for a healthy sex life, since emotional balance affects the quality of interactions with the people around you. There are many Ayurvedic tips for stress busting. Make sure you get enough sleep as well as exercise during the day. Practising abhangya, as earlier mentioned, works wonders for stress levels. You can also learn yoga and meditation. These two practices have profound benefits for the stressed out minds of today.

6. Don’t Overdo It.

Moderation is the golden rule of Ayurveda, and it also applies to sex. That’s because while it can be extremely health boosting, sex can also deplete the body’s energies when done in excess. It’s good to take it easy during hot summers or cold winters. It’s also better to limit the amount of sex you have when your body is weak – since it needs the energy to heal itself.
