Potassium isn’t a much talked about mineral, but it’s responsible for a lot of functions in the body. It keeps your blood pressure low, maintains fluid balance in the body as well as helps the muscles contract. But, a deficiency or a surplus may lead to problematic conditions and hyperkalemia is one of those. The otherwise normal potassium levels persistently keep getting higher and lead to life-threatening situations. The average levels of potassium in the body must be between 3.6 and 5.2 millimoles per liter. But, anything beyond this is a sign of high potassium or hyperkalemia. So, here’s what you need to know about the hyperkalemia symptoms as well as the hyperkalemia treatment.

What Are The Hyperkalemia Causes?

  • Diabetes
  • Alcohol addiction
  • Injuries

  • Cardiovascular diseases

Hyperkalemia Treatment

1. Use Parsley.

This effective diuretic helps detox your kidneys as well as get rids of the harmful toxins. Therefore, such a flush out helps eliminate the high potassium levels.

2. Try Garlic.

It restricts the absorption of excess potassium and hence lowers the hyperkalemia symptoms. Simply have a fresh garlic clove every day with a glass of warm milk and it will soothe the condition.

3. Increase Calcium Levels In Your Diet.

Yes, this will counter the effects of high potassium. So, include dairy products like milk, cheese, buttermilk, as well as yogurt to relieve the hyperkalemia symptoms.

4. Water Is The Best Remedy.

Having a sufficient amount of water removes the excess potassium. Around 7-10 glasses each day will help you immensely. But, do not replace water with caffeinated drinks or alcohol. Water acts as an essential antioxidant that keeps your system clean and therefore reduces the hyperkalemia symptoms.

5. Breakfast Options For Hyperkalemia.

Have some cornflakes with strawberries as well as blueberries along with a glass of grape juice. Another alternative is to have a buttered toast topped with some brown sugar and cinnamon. All of these ingredients help detox your system and get the excess potassium out.

6. Lunch Options To Lower The Hyperkalemia Symptoms.

Sliced cucumber sprinkled with dill weed can be packed into a sandwich or you can have a healthy tortilla with sweet peppers, onion, asparagus, some lime, chili powder, and olive oil.

7. Dinner Options To Reduce High Potassium.

Have green beans and some rice alongside a salad loaded with iceberg lettuce, raw broccoli, and some cooked carrots.
