Here are some different types of berries along with their super powers.

The Different Kinds Of Healthy Berries & Their Benefits

1. Amla: A Vitamin C Powerhouse

Gooseberry or amla is among Ayurveda’s favourite healthy berries. For centuries, it has been used in for the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines, the most popular being Chyawanprash. Amla is astringent, bitter, and sour. It’s the richest source of Vitamin C among all fruits. Amla pacifies all doshas. It balances the digestive fire. It builds ojas and rejuvenates body tissues. Amla is also great for the heart.

2. Blueberries: A Rich Source Of Antioxidants

When we speak about the health benefits of berries, most of us think about the antioxidant-rich blueberries. One of the most popular berries around, they are not so easy on the pocket – but they’re great for health. Blueberries reduce excess Pitta. They lower bad cholesterol levels and can also help control blood pressure. By fighting free radicals, they help prevent cancer and prevent early ageing.

3. Cranberries: A Must-Eat Berry

Next on our list of healthy berries comes cranberries, also a powerhouse of antioxidants. Cranberries are tangy, tarty, and full of nutrition. They are effective in preventing stomach and urinary tract infections. They are good for the gums due to their astringent properties. Just avoid the juices and jams with added sweeteners, and enjoy them in unprocessed forms.

4. Grapes: Delicious Jewels Of Health

Yes, grapes too are berries! And their health benefits are fantastic. Packed with water and cooling properties, they are a good summer food. Grapes can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol. They are also effective in protecting our eyes from damage. Enjoy these red lovelies in their season.

6. Goji Berry: For Your Heart, Eyes & More

Goji berries are used to prepare many Chinese and Japanese medicines. They contain zeaxnthin, an oxidant which is very good for the eyes. They are high in protein, fiber, iron, and calcium. Goji berries boost energy, improve fertility, and also help prevent cancer. They are also very good for the heart since they lower blood pressure. Teas made with goji berry are worth a try.
