More than ever, it is in today’s time that the kokum fruit holds immense importance. It’s a pinkish purple plum-like small citrus fruit which can be sun-dried and stored to be used all year round. Garcinia indica has been a go-to Ayurvedic fruit/ herb since centuries. It has pharmaceutical, culinary as well as industrial uses. It’s a great remedy for acidity, bloating, weight loss, cold, cough, heartburn and more. But, Kokum is much more than an antacid. Here are some of the miraculous kokum benefits:

A poor sleeping pattern, improper diet and an unhealthy lifestyle can cause several health problems. To get rid of these, you may resort to instant relief pills. This, in turn, damages your system and washes away its rich gut flora to create imbalances. However, kokum fruit regulates your appetite and also relives dysentery, diarrhea as well as flatulence. Regular intake of Kokum juice benefits you in piles and anal fissures.

  • Indigestion: Drink kokum juice with some salt and black pepper
  • Flatulence: Mix some ginger juice, sugar, honey and salt in kokum juice and keep sipping throughout the day
  • Hyperacidity: Cold garcinia indica juice with salt and sugar is useful
  • Constipation: 500mg of dry kokum fruit can be taken every night for best results

2. It Relieves Skin Problems.

Kokum butter is extensively used in the cosmetic industry. The oil present in the seeds of kokum is frozen to form the butter. It can soothe skin inflammation, reduce stretch marks and keep the skin moist. Dried kokum skin paste is effective for the treatment of wounds, burns, allergies, rashes, dryness and more.

3. Garcinia Indica Pacifies Pitta.

Kokum juice benefits to lower the aggravated Pitta, especially during summer time. You can include the fruit in your daily diet to prevent the negative effect of an imbalance Agni. Daily drink half a glass of kokum fruit infused water to soothe Pitta Dosha.

4. It’s A Natural Immunity Enhancer!

Kokum juice benefits your body in a number of ways. Having anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-cancerous as well as antioxidative properties, Kokum helps to maintain your immune system. All of these keep you strong and free from any health problems. So, add the dried kokum skin to your veggies and other dishes to gain its benefits.

5. It Keeps The Body Cool.

Regularly drinking kokum juice protects the body from dehydration. So, here’s how to prepare this summer coolant – steep the kokum fruit in a liter of water with some diluted sugar and drink it daily. This is a popular beverage, also known as Amrut Kokum. It’s absolutely refreshing as well as rejuvenating.

6. Kokum Fruit Is A Potent Antioxidant.
