  1. Tea tree oil comes from the leaves and twigs of the Tea tree, which is native to Australia.
  2. Its nature is cooling and moisturising.
  3. For thousands of years, it has been used as an antiseptic.
  4. It is known as an all-rounder since it treats a wide range of other issues.
  5. It has the same effect on all the three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

The Uses of Tea Tree Oil

  1. Tea Tree Oil for Fighting Infection

A strong fighter of infection, it combats and kills unwanted organisms that enter your system. This stops the infection from spreading throughout your body – thereby nipping the problem in the bud!

  • Fungal Infections: It can treat ringworm, athlete’s foot, vaginal infections, dermatitis, toenail infections, dandruff. Prepare a warm foot bath with 2 drops of Tea tree oil. After that, mix 2 more drops of it with 8 drops of olive oil and apply it on your skin.
  • Better Breathing: This oil can help with cough and cold, asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis and chest congestion. Simply add 2-3 drops of the oil to warm water for steam inhalation to clear out your sinuses and chest. You can add the same amount to a warm bath, and also massage your chest with it.
  1. Tea Tree Oil for Skin and Hair

Tea tree oil is antimicrobial, fungicidal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, disinfectant, and antiviral too. This means that it can tackle quite a range of skin issues from acne to wounds.

  • Acne: A highly common problem even among adults these days, acne significantly lessen with the help of Tea tree oil. There are various studies that back this up. The best part is that it is much less likely to cause side effects than standard chemical-laden products. Mix 2 drops of it with 15 drops of Jojoba oil and apply it on the skin.
  • Scars: Tea tree oil is wonderful for ridding your skin of dead cells and promoting the growth of new ones. So, it helps lighten scars from acne, wounds, boils, rashes and burns. You can apply it directly on the skin for this too.
  • Dandruff and Lice: This oil works wonders for both issues! Simply add 2 drops of it into mild shampoo and massage it on the scalp.

  • Other Skin Problems: You can also use Tea tree oil for wounds, bed sores, psoriasis, cold sores, diaper rashes, cystitis, genito-urinary infections, dermatitis, ear infections, vaginal thrush, and insect bites. Mix 2 drops of the oil with 10 drops of coconut oil and apply it on the skin.
  1. Tea Tree Oil for Your Mind

Tea tree oil is often used in aromatherapy because of its soothing, rejuvenating scent. It is quite effective in treating stress and tiredness – both physical and mental. Simply add 3 drops of it to a vaporiser, diffuser or burner and inhale. You will soon drift into relaxation. You can also mix 5 drops of it with 40 drops of coconut oil and massage it on your body for a cooling effect.

As you see, the uses of Tea tree oil are ever so many. It’s is everything you can ask for in a bottle of oil – it heals, refreshes, strengthens, beautifies, moisturises, protects, disinfects, and it can even calm your mind!
