Drinking 6 to 10 glasses of water every day is considered as a fairly sufficient amount. However, with the mercury rising high, your body needs much more than just water. The foods you eat also hold importance. That’s because you may not always realise it, but your body can get easily dehydrated during the hot season. These cooling foods for the summer heat prevent your energy from getting drained in the scorching sunlight. So, eating right is an important way to fight the summer heat naturally.

Best Foods For The Summer Heat

1. Have A Bowl Full Of Cooling Yogurt

Who doesn’t like a bowl full of yogurt? Diluted yogurt not only feels refreshing but it also leaves a soothing effect on your body. If you don’t like milk, turn it into yogurt. If you don’t like plain yogurt, add berries and make it flavourful. Pair it up with your meals or make sweet or salty buttermilk.

2. Cucumber Is High In Water Content

Among all solid foods, cucumber has the highest water content and it’s mostly a part of salads. It balances your body’s water requirement and keeps you hydrated throughout the summer time. Blend it with a non-fat yogurt, slice and eat raw or simply drink its juice. It will keep your skin and the entire system disease-free.

3. Cooling Foods For The Body? Try Spinach!

To load your body with a punch of nutrients along with fighting dehydration, add spinach to your diet and fulfill your body’s requirements. It’s rich in potassium, magnesium and vitamin B along with water content which are all known to keep you energized.

4. Foods For The Summer Heat – Celery Is The Best!

Comprising of about 95% water, celery is the best cooling food for the body. It’s also loaded with zinc, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and iron to keep you going during summers.

5. Onions Have Cooling Properties

Onion isn’t just a great ingredient for adding taste to your meals but also cools the body well. Add it to your daily diet so that you get sufficient protection from sunstroke and dehydration. Eat it raw in the form of a salad and top it up with some black pepper, salt, as well as freshly squeezed lemon juice.

6. Tomatoes Keep You Cool and Hydrated

Use tomatoes in your own way – slice them for a salad or simply make a sauce, soup or curry out of it. All you’ll gain are health benefits. Tomatoes keep your body hydrated during the harsh summers with their high water content.

7. Watermelons With High Water Content

If you do not like eating watermelon, reconsider your decision – watermelon counts among the most powerful foods for the summer heat. It’s rich in antioxidants, high in water content and also keeps you energized all day long.
