If you often face difficulty in swallowing your food, do not take it lightly. This could be a serious problem. And dysphagia is the medical term used for it. The dysphagia causes include neurological as well as throat related ailments. And, these can eventually lead to critical swallowing problems as well as food reflux (dysphagia symptoms). But dysphagia treatment is pretty easy and it helps relieve the discomforts.

What Is Dysphagia?

Dysphagia is one of the chronic swallowing problems that restrict your eating process. According to Ayurveda, Pitta aggravation is one of the leading causes. Difficulty in swallowing arises due to a complication in your throat nerves or the muscles as they do not function right. This makes it painful for you to have foods or liquids and further leads to overall poor health.

What Are The Dysphagia Causes?

  • Old age
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol addiction
  • Inflammation of the tonsils
  • Stroke
  • Dementia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Brain injury
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Eosinophilic esophagitis
  • Esophageal spasm
  • Other neurological diseases

What Are The Dysphagia Symptoms?

  • Difficulty in swallowing
  • Excessive coughing while eating
  • Obstruction in the throat
  • Food or liquid reiteration after swallowing
  • Heartburn
  • Chest pain
  • Weight loss
  • Drooling
  • Hoarseness

Difficulty In Swallowing? Here Are Some Home Remedies.

1. Licorice Roots Are Magical For Dysphagia Treatment.

Since licorice has anti-inflammatory properties, it helps relieve throat soreness as well as heartburn (initial dysphagia symptoms). Simply crush the herb to form a powder and consume 2-4 grams every day with warm water.

2. Amla Eases Difficulty In Swallowing.

Mix half a teaspoon of dried amla powder with one teaspoon of honey. Consume it with warm water on an empty stomach every morning.

3. Coriander Effectively Treats The Dysphagia Symptoms.

Coriander seeds are Pitta pacifying and they also help cure swallowing problems along with other dysphagia symptoms. Use this as an effective recipe.  Just grind equal amounts of coriander seeds, cumin, and sugar. Take about 2 teaspoons of the powder with water after each meal. Do this twice every day and you’ll see the difference.

4. Ginger Is A Potent Dysphagia Treatment.

Ginger is enriched with several medicinal properties. It’s a potent ayurvedic remedy that cures a number of bodily ailments. So, consume ¼ spoon honey with ¼ spoon of ginger juice every day to aid the swallowing process and get rid of other related symptoms.

5. Horse Gram Is Proven Best For Swallowing Problems.

Horse gram has the ability to treat a sore throat, and also burning in the abdomen and chest. So, take some horse gram powder (also known as kulattha churnam in Ayurveda) and keep it in your mouth. Slowly suck it for a couple of minutes and eventually let it in.
