Healthy living is the union of a sound mind, free spirit, and a disease-free body. For this to happen, you must incorporate certain necessary lifestyle changes. Ayurveda focuses on balancing the three energies – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. When these are in tune, you’re able to smooth out your life’s rough edges. Therefore, following are some healthy lifestyle tips that lead to a successful and happier life.

Healthy Lifestyle Changes

1. Exercise Is The Key.

Make it a habit – 45 minutes each day and at least three times a week – exercise! If you can, exercise daily. Run, dance, do yoga or stretch – anything that suits you, just get moving.

2. Rest As Much As You Work.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Studies show that a job without a break affects productivity. Therefore, take breaks during the day and sleep enough at night.

3. Do Not Overindulge In Food.

Food is important but to an extent. If you choose to eat because of the flavors, you’ll not be leading a healthy lifestyle. Eat when you are hungry and eat warm food only. Avoid spicy and oily food since it aggravates Pitta.

4. Keep Yourself Hydrated.

Ayurveda recommends drinking at least 2-3 liters of water daily. It keeps you hydrated. A lack can primarily show up the signs of aging on your skin. In severe cases, it can cause conditions like chronic dehydration or fainting, etc. For an added benefit, you can also include caffeine-free herbal teas in your routine.

5. Quit Smoking & Alcohol.

According to Ayurveda, smoking and alcohol consumption is the root of all problems. Therefore, certain lifestyle changes are necessary. Here’s how you can quit smoking and also desist alcohol.

6. Meditate.

Deviate your mind, rid negative thoughts, and de-stress. It’s important to maintain your sanity. Meditate so you can relax completely. A 10-minutes meditation session daily is actually enough to help you calm the wandering mind.

7. Don’t Compromise With Hygiene.

Ignorance is the enemy of healthy living. So, take care of your hygiene. Bathe every day. Cleanse your body using natural scrubs twice a week. Wear clean clothes. Wash your hands before eating. Rinse your mouth thoroughly. Follow such healthy lifestyle tips without fail and see the difference.

8. Listen To Your Natural Urges.

Ayurveda condemns controlling natural urges like urination or thirst. It’s essential to pay heed to your body. Make these lifestyle changes to live longer.

9. Avoid A Sedentary Lifestyle.

This is one of the must needed lifestyle changes to incorporate especially if you have a desk job. No matter what, take breaks, move a little, stretch your body and do not sit for too long. Here are the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle. It’s one of the most healthy lifestyle tips. An active lifestyle encourages healthy living.

10. Learn To Ignore Negativity.

Negative opinions keep coming your way through criticism at work or social media or family/ friends. Choose to say no to these voices and thoughts of self-doubt. Stay positive for a healthy lifestyle and an even healthier mind.
