According to Ayurvedic wisdom, positivity and happiness are vital for well-being on all levels – physical, emotional, mental as well as spiritual. Most of us understand this at some point in life. But not all of us know how to increase positivity. Ayurveda says that a sound mind and strong body are essential for this. It shows us some simple but powerful practices. These give us the support we need to create and maintain positivity.

How To Improve Positivity?

1. Sleep & Rise On Time.

What have sleeping and waking up on time have to do with positivity? Well according to Ayurveda, a lot. Hitting the bed around 10 pm and waking up with the Sun works wonders for the mind and body. It gives you deep, restful sleep at night – during which the body repairs, rejuvenates, and re-energises itself.

2. Get Abhyanga Massages.

How to increase positivity and happiness? Ayurveda encourages getting Abhyanga massages at least every week. This can be done yourself too. Massages release stress stored deep in the body. They aid detoxification and boost energy levels. All of this supports a positive mind.

3. Practise Gratefulness.

Practising gratefulness simply means to appreciate the good things in life – your loved ones, freshly cooked food, a shelter over your head, the beautiful flowers, the sunlight…there are a hundred things to be thankful for. Giving thanks focuses your mind on the positive, which further attracts more positivity. Try it.

4. Spend Time In Nature.

Ayurveda encourages us to connect with nature. Live in tune with it, as much as possible. Being in the midst of nature is proven to reduce stress, anger, blood pressure, muscle tension, depression, and a host of other such problems. It uplifts the soul! Walk or hike in nature regularly. Or simply spend time on a park bench.

5. Eat Satvik Food.

How to improve positivity? Satvik food is immensely helpful. Such food is high in prana. It supports a strong body and calm mind. Satvik foods mainly include:

  • Fresh, organic, and regionally grown fruits as well as veggies
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Natural sweeteners
  • Milk and its products from healthy cows
  • Mild spices such as cinnamon, basil, coriander, ginger and turmeric
  • Whole grains

6. Adopt A Yoga & Meditation Practice.

Daily yoga and meditation practice significantly reduces stress levels while refreshing the mind. It helps let go of negative behaviour patterns. Step by step, you can cultivate a more positive attitude. Yoga and meditation also support a strong body and high self confidence.

7. Laugh More Often.

How to increase positivity and happiness? Try to laugh more often. It relaxes the muscles. It causes a shift in perspective, enabling you to see things in a lighter and more positive way. Try laughter yoga, spend time with children, watch funny movies, or go to stand up comedy evenings.
