Have you ever wondered if you are eating enough of foods that safeguard your cells? Yes, we are talking about the foods high in antioxidants. First of all, it isn’t just a fancy buzzword. And secondly, antioxidants are clearly the most important component to naturally protect your well-being against harmful oxidants. So, here we share with you a list of antioxidant-rich foods that keep you well protected.

Why Do You Need Antioxidants?

  • They help detoxify the body.
  • Antioxidants prevent oxidative damage.
  • Your vision remains absolutely healthy.
  • Mood swings reduce.
  • Free radicals cannot easily affect your immune system.
  • There’s a lower risk of developing any cognitive disorders.
  • They also have anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancerous properties.

Foods High In Antioxidants

1. Berries

Which berry steals the limelight? Blueberry! But, these aren’t the only foods high in antioxidants. In addition to blueberries, you can also try raspberries, cherries, strawberries, cranberries or blackberries. Being loaded with vitamin C, they can easily cover up your daily antioxidant requirement.

2. Nuts

Which are the best antioxidant foods, particularly nuts? Walnuts! They offer a significant amount of natural antioxidants. Some other nuts may include almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, pecan, and peanuts.

3. Morel Mushrooms

This is an exquisite variety of mushrooms that is said to be an excellent spring food. Morels are a rich source of antioxidants that can even protect you against the effects of chemotherapy.

4. Spinach

This is a low calorie and highly nutritional natural antioxidant. Spinach protects your eye health and also has detoxifying properties.

5. Beetroot

Beets aren’t just a fiber-rich food, but are also high in iron, and potassium, along with being the best foods high in antioxidants. They impressively suppress inflammation as well as lower the risk of digestive infections.

6. Herbs

The best antioxidant-rich foods or herbs include cayenne pepper, clove, garlic, oregano, cumin, basil, parsley, turmeric, and cinnamon. You can use them to flavor your everyday dishes or make your own herbal tea.

7. Kidney Beans

Any kind of kidney beans, black or red, are the best foods high in antioxidants. It’s the best muscle boosting vegetarian protein that’s also low in cholesterol. So enjoy them regularly.

8. Tomatoes

Packed with vitamin A as well as C, tomatoes are amongst the most potent (natural) antioxidants. They also prove to be the best Sun protection foods.

More Isn’t Always Better!

The antioxidant to oxidant ratio needs to be well in proportion. And so, overloading your body with just the antioxidants is no solution. This will not prevent but will rather lead to critical health conditions.

Balance will always ensure that your body’s internal antioxidant defense mechanism isn’t turned down. This is why natural food sources come in handy and better than supplements.
