To avoid severe sun tan or sunburns, you make sure to carry and apply sunscreens whenever you can. A majority of these are chemical based and they eventually harm your skin. But, all you need to do is simply increase your skin’s tolerance towards the harsh summer Sun. How? By eating natural sunscreen i.e. consuming some effective sun protection foods! They help you develop a defense mechanism for your skin against the mighty star of our solar system – the Sun.

Best Sun Protection Foods

1. Avocado Is A Natural Sunscreen

Avocado is powerful enough to shield your skin from the environmental damage. It is packed with essential proteins that help your skin fight the effects of free radicals and provide significant protection.

2. Need The Best Sun Protection Foods? Try Tomatoes!

When you eat your lycopene, you consume the essential antioxidants to enhance your skin health. So, not only will cooked (paste or puree) tomatoes help, but you can also eat watermelon, apricot, papaya and grapefruit. They protect your skin against acute Sun damage.

3. Bite That Broccoli

Antioxidants present in this vegetable prevent the development of skin cancer or any related symptoms. Broccoli is amongst the best Sun protection foods that increase your skin’s Sun tolerance and even fight the signs of early aging.

4. Green Tea For UV Protection

Being rich in polyphenols, green tea helps combat the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays. It also prevents the excessive production of stress hormones to ultimately improve your collagen levels. This way, you can flaunt a healthier and much firmer skin.

5. Leafy Greens

Go all gaga for greens. These will help you radiate from within. Add to your everyday diet some spinach, swizz chard, kale, artichoke, broccoli or parsley. This will repair and rejuvenate the skin.

6. Get Your Omega-3s Right

Include flaxseeds to your daily diet and avoid the effects of any inflammations like suntan or sunburn. These act as a natural sunscreen to protect you from Sun damage.

7. Pump Up Some Pomegranates

Having pomegranate seeds or juice helps inhibit any changes in the skin cells due to extreme UV exposure. It is a natural sunscreen and one of the best Sun protection foods. To be precise, this fruit helps lowers the risk of Sun damage by almost 25%.
