Runner’s knee is a condition characterized by knee pain as well as inflammation, due to an overload on the knee joints. Swelling and redness results from excessive knee inflammation. Runner’s knee is also called patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). In Ayurveda, the major cause of runner’s knee is Vata Dosha. Therefore, appropriate Ayurvedic runner’s knee treatment involves nourishing as well as hydrating the knee joints. One can do this with natural herbs and essential foods. Moreover, doctors recommend exercises for quicker recovery.

What Are The Runner’s Knee Causes?

  • Bad body posture
  • Wearing uncomfortable shoes
  • Exercising on uneven surfaces
  • Excess or a vigorous workout
  • Overuse of the joints
  • Injuries
  • Bone disease
  • Autoimmune disorders

What Are The Runner’s Knee Symptoms?

  • Throbbing pain in one or both knees
  • Dull consistent pain in the knees
  • Difficulty in walking, running, climbing, squatting, and bending knees
  • Swelling
  • Weakness
  • Fluid retention
  • Redness
  • Inflammation or heating in the knees
  • Clicking and popping sounds in the knee while moving

Runner’s Knee Treatment

1. Ice Packs Heal Knee Inflammation As Well As Swelling.

Runner’s knee causes inflammation in the joints, resulting in swelling. Ice will soothe the burning sensation and provide relaxation. Apply an ice pack for about 15-20 minutes after every 3 hours. Alternatively, apply aloe vera on the knees for some cooling as well as soothing.

2. Ginger Reduces Inflammation Rather Well.

Kitchen ingredients are powerful. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory root that reduces knee inflammation and pain in the joints. Therefore, boil one cup of water and add half a teaspoon of crushed ginger roots in it. Strain the tea after 5 minutes and drink twice daily.

3. Try Turmeric And Milk For Healthier Bones.

Runner’s knee treatment is possible with golden milk since it contains all the necessary medicinal nutrients. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, and milk is rich in calcium. Heat a glass of milk and add a half teaspoon of turmeric in it. Drink every night before sleeping.

4. Herbal Oils Lubricate The Knee Joints.

Excess running and poor diet may degrade the joints in the knees. So, lubricate them with Ayurvedic oils like Boswellia, Guggul, and Ashwagandha oils. Prepare a mixture by adding a teaspoon of each of the herbal oils. Massage the joints gently for 15 minutes twice every day and get rid of the knee inflammation.

5. Consume Triphala For Runner’s Knee Treatment.

Triphala is the mixture of three herbs in Ayurveda. Its consumption is beneficial for treating the tri-doshas. Take one teaspoon of Triphala Churna twice regularly.
