The onset of scurvy disease is pretty gradual and it’s a condition that occurs due to a lack of vitamin C in the human body. It is one of the ancient deficiency diseases which is common amongst kids and is also mistaken for rickets or rheumatism. Being deprived of fresh food is the main cause for scurvy. It can be fatal if the appropriate scurvy treatment isn’t provided. So, here are some home remedies and natural treatments for you to effectively cure the condition.

Vitamin C is required by our body to make collagen that’s an important component present in the connective tissues. When there’s a lack of collagen, your body’s support system starts to deteriorate, including the blood vessels. Due to such circumstances, your immune system degenerates and it also affects the metabolic rate along with the nutrient absorption capabilities.

Scurvy Treatment In Ayurveda

1. Pay Attention To Your Diet.

Consume a diet that’s rich in vitamin C and include citrus foods in your everyday routine. Some of the best sources are oranges, strawberries, lemon, kiwi fruit, and blackberries. Vegetables like tomato, carrot, broccoli, bell pepper, spinach, grapefruit, sprouts, and cabbage also maintain your vitamin C levels. Not just this, make sure that your meals and the raw foods are all fresh to reap maximum benefits.

2. Indian Gooseberry

This is a wonder fruit that’s highly beneficial for scurvy treatment. It’s one of the most effective home remedies for scurvy. So, consume 1 tsp each of amla powder and sugar with milk thrice daily.

3. Try This Anti-Scurvey Decoction!

You’ll find this treatment to be very effective in curing scurvy disease. Take about 15 g of jaundice berry leaves and boil them in half a liter of water until it reduces to one-third. Drink about 150-175 ml of this mix once a day and you’ll notice the difference.

4. Lemon Juice

Lemons have an abundant supply of vitamin C, so they prove to be very beneficial. Therefore, squeeze an entire lemon into a glass of lukewarm water and add some honey to it. Drink the solution twice daily and over time, scurvy symptoms will start to disappear.

5. Potatoes

To alleviate the effects of scurvy, mashed potatoes are amongs the best home remedies. Consume a limited amount every day or you can also pair it up with some tomato juice for that added benefit.
